RE: bmi baby jet struck by lightning

I didn’t mean the lightning was scary, I was refering to the loud bang, personally if I was on a jet and I heard a loud bang, I’d be rather concerned to say the least!

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 05-06-02 AT 08:58 PM (GMT)]Saab, the location is Naha Air Base on the Island of Okinawa, quite why an ANA 747 would be landing there, I have no idea.

    RE: pic of the hour

Not sure where the pic was taken, its from a site that is F-4/F-15 only, plus all text is in Japanese!
But I’ll look into it though.

RE: 5 engines on BA 747

If any jet ever carried a fifth engine it was more likely for testing a new engine, or ferrying a replacement engine to a maintenance facility overseas, the crew would simply trim the aircraft to counter any drag induced loss of stability in flight.

RE: God Save The Queen, no not a jubilee post!

Saw the show as well, I would seriously like to see the Queen’s impression of Concorde taking off, personally I think it would be the comedy moment of the century, just because of the sheer weirdness of seeing a person held in such high regard making such a bloody fool of them self.

The L1011 was sitting on the ramp at idle when a Delta 757 started to taxi and blew the container across the ramp, you can find the story and more amazing pics here. http://www.aviationpics.de/

    RE: Air 2000 ‘holy’ flight!

I’m pretty sure that if a ‘hole’ 4ft by 2ft was indeed punched through the wing then the airflow would be quite severely disturbed causing some if not a lot of vibration, also if it took out a spoiler surely there would be some form of hydraulic leak from the damaged actuators which the captain would be aware of in the cockpit?

    RE: Camera’s

I’ve got a Pentax Z-50p and have had nothing but good results with it, to my eyes at least anyway. As an indication of second hand value I saw one recently in a local camera shop for £250 complete with a 35-80mm zoom, while this lense is fine for static aircraft, cockpit shots etc, like Dan330 says you will need at least a 200mm zoom and these can be found second hand for around £70 basically its gonna cost a few bob to get set up but the results should be worth it.
