RE: We never speak about this one :why?
What about this lovely one, flying to Basel from Mombasa, Kenya, regularly?
On the subject of the A.310, I remember it as a pleasant aircraft when a passenger. I heard from the cabin crew, though, that they hated the aircraft because during cruise the aircraft was never exactly level, and the had to push the heavy trolleys uphill through the cabin!

RE: BGY ? LIN? MXP???
LIN = Milano-Linate airport, the old city airport nowadays mainly served by Alitalia
MXP = Milano-Malpensa airport, the international airport of Milan
BGY = Bergamo-Orio al Serio airport, nowadays marketed as Milano-Bergamo
LIN is about 5 km to the east of the city
MXP is about 40 km to the northwest of the city
BGY is about 50 km to the northeast of the city
I would recommend BGY for a flight to Milan, as this airport is less crowded, easy-on easy-off, and with good public transport to Milan. MXP is a mess, and for LIN you would most probably have to fly Alitalia.
LUG is about 80 km north of Milan, and there are direct trains between the two cities. Flying to LUG, however, means Swiss via either Zurich or Basel, and high prices, as you have already found out.

Peter

RE: Things that really tick me off with the forum
While only being a member here for a few days, I totally agree with you, Wombat, as I have made similiar experience. I am handling this in a way that I do not read and/or reply to threads that do not interest me.
On the other hand side it is amazing to see the response of some of the discussions in this forum, i.e.
“Hold old are you?” created an amazing 59 replies
“What is the best flavour of crisps” managed to hit 24
And all this, while the average aviation-related topic typically hits around 10-15, or less.
Somehow these trivial discussions seem to attract. My only advice is, though, skip them if not interested.

RE: Heavy Lift…have they gone bust?
Fact is that Prime, Heavylift’s pax arm has gone bust in August, and Heavylift itself in September. Most of the fleet should be parked at Southend.
