If believing that homosexuality is a sin that will be punished by God is “practically condoning” the crime then you could say the same of tens of millions of christians in the United States alone.

Anyone who has been fasting probably wouldn’t be permitted to donate blood, though maybe they waive the usual requirements for mass casualty incidents like this one.

If Florida is anything like Australia the prohibition isn’t on gay men donating blood but on men who have had sex with men in the past 12 months. A subtle but meaningful distinction.

The ‘remain’ argument from the left, specifically from someone who has every reason to speak ill of Brussels (and indeed has done so on a regular basis with greater clarity and force than almost any other public figure):

I expect that T-50 has about as much use for external dumb bombs as F-35 has for external Sidewinders.

Interestingly, we shall see naval PAK-FA one day, as a part of Project 23000E Shtorm aircraft carrier..

Yes, Russia is very good at creating models. Wake me in fifteen years and we’ll see.

New coast guard ship. It uses the Type 054A frigate hull.

You have to laugh at some of the alarmist western rhetoric coming out about this type — as if the USCG “National Security Cutters” aren’t basically the same thing. The substantive difference being that, unlike the prudent Chinese, USN wasn’t sensible enough to field a modern frigate design for USCG to derive from in the first place (or even to go in the other direction from USCG to USN). Indeed, given that the USCG’s NSCs have gas turbine propulsion whilst the new CCG types do not, the former would appear much more warship-like.

When we started ISIS was estimated to be 30K strong. So many bombs later and they estimate the same number. What the hell are they hitting?

Selecting a French design based upon a rigorous competitive evaluation process = Highly questionable.

In that case I’ll stick with my initial impression, born of John Green‘s evident approval, that it is the incoherent ramblings of a deranged serial killer from the 1930s before fascism lost its lustre, and get back to reading Jawaharlal Nehru’s The Discovery of India.

They have two rudders and carnards.. thats about it for me..

Two rudders and canards? All most American commentators need to declare something a rip-off are two wings and a cockpit. 😉

Yes seriously, the effect of the one child policy on Chinese society is huge and far reaching.

China’s one-child policy as the cause of declining birth rates and skewed gender ratios is seriously overrated, as can be seen by the fact that many other countries — including Taiwan and South Korea — have experienced similar demographic transitions and gender imbalances without a one-child policy.

And it’s the US that is opening up to Vietnam, not the other way around. Vietnam was ready to let bygones be bygones a generation ago. It’s the Americans who’ve let their pride and hurt feelings override common sense until now.

Every single economic view of UK exit sees a real terms drop in GDP as unavoidable.

Which should be meaningless to voters except insofar as GDP translates to the welfare of the general citizenry, a relationship that, in the age of neoliberalism and with the financialisation of the economy, is becoming increasingly tenuous.

You have to look at the larger picture. That T-50 is not “true stealth” (and is therefore inferior) is perhaps the only thing in this world that American and Chinese nationalists can agree upon.

T-50 is more than just a fighter plane — it is the harbinger of world peace.
