OK gang, here we go… I’ve got another profile project on the go and now the fun begins… looking for military operators of the Cessna 337/O-2 Skymaster. Any and all of them, especially anything obscure – just not those from the civilian ‘warbird’ scene.
JJ
Here is one from Zimbabwe. i think they have two used for anti-poaching operations.
Thanks.
One was seen flying in formation with the newly derivered K-8 Karakorums as late as late 2006.
Thanks Flex297. Do you remember where you read it? I try to keep such info for the AFZ – that is my air force.
Personally I don’t trust any dogma regarding African aviation anymore. Just one year ago it was a widely aknowledged fact that Libya doesn’t operate Mi-23MLs, that no Zimbabwean Hawks are flyable, that Ethiopia never received Mig-23MLs and that Nigeria only operated Mig-21MFs. And actually all these “facts” proved to be wrong.
What have you got on Zimbabwean Hawks? Are they flying? More info please and sources if possible.
Thanks,
Tempest.
Didn’t they buy something recently from china? I recall some news in that direction..
They got 6 K-8s after having received 6 in late 2004 or early 2005. Also said they are intrested in the FC-1.
They have wanted the Mig-29 since 1987. Someone in the force must have fallen in love with them.
I heard too that they had not requirement for the Mig-23s and that they are in storage.
Anybody with specifications for the F-7BZ?
Zimbabwe does have some air defence radars.
Check “AIR FORCE” on the online directory under Harare : http://www.telone.co.zw/directory.html , it list an Air Force radar station.
Also in this article some airforce guy is not happy with recruits to trains to operate radars: http://www.zwnews.com/issuefull.cfm?ArticleID=9761
Also one site lists Zimbabwe having received a CEIEC-408C air defence radar.
A also remember a while back in a newpaper mentioning Selenia Radar Station and I think that was in Gweru.
