Good luck with it buddy, almost enrolled in a course studying the history of conflict in the 20th century myself a few years back, I’ve regretted not doing it ever since.

The topics studied included all the large scale conflicts such as WWI,WWII, Korea,Vietnam, etc,as well as the “forgotten” conflicts such as the South American “Soccer Wars”, the Communist insurgency in Brunei and so on. Facsinating stuff 😀

I hear you SOC,it seems people can’t joke on here or indulge in some friendly banter without someone taking it all seriously and diving in headlong, itching to prove you wrong and in the process trying to make you look the fool, all over a comment made in jest

Since I’ve joined I feel this place has changed for the worse 🙁

“You cannot understand Stealth, you can only be stealth” appears to be the angle here, it’s like reading the hagakure or something 😉

It reminds me of a “watered down” F/A-22,so how about Raptor-Lite?

    Diet Raptor? 😀

At the end of the day Blackcat it’s the Venezuelans money and their decision what they buy,if they decide they’d prefer the SU-27 then there’s little or nothing MiG can do to force them to buy their product.

Nope, happens to everyone the dastardly mid air collision Russian,Indians, French British etc….especially if you’re caught in a sudden sand storm, so please don’t give us that “Oh Americans must be crap pilots or their equipment is” crap again.

AGAIN you miss my point, I’m not asking that anything be censored, how isn’t that clear from my original post?

All I’m suggesting is that a seperate forum category be opened so that all this unrelated geo-politics is there,in one neat little package for everyone to flame away at their hearts content with whatever stunted world view they have, rather than cluttering the “Modern Military Aviation” with it all…..

now, the thread in itself was in itself calling for overthrowing a democratically elected Govt and to invade a sovereign Nation, if u don expect such a nature of reply from a civilised world, its not exactly the place u shud have been ….

You obviously missed my point. Is this military aviation related? I think not. It’s more of a geo-political issue wouldn’t you agree? Now,if this thread discussed the air warfare aspect of a hypothetical invasion of Venezuela, then it would be on topic with the theme of the forum (remember? Military Aviation),however this thread’s been hijacked and has developed into YET ANOTHER “America sucks” “Americans are stupid” and so forth free-for-all,which are becoming rather tiresome

I suppose this threads just an excuse to get the whole “Death to America!” camp enflamed again.

Why don’t we open a seperate board on here for this kind of politically charged dogma to stop it cluttering Military Aviation ?

about the apaches , well all the helicopters are machines with an very vulnerable nature, but we always will see some fans saying “impossible, the ah64 is an modern wonder” etc…

If you’re refering to me that’s not what I meant, the Apache CAN be shot down, but the odds of someone with an old bolt action rifle doing it? Even you have to admit it’s pretty unlikely

I’d agree with TJ here, that Apache didn’t even seem to have sustained any visible damage at all when it came down, suggesting that it was probably some sort of malfunction/mechanical failure.

And besides,to shoot an AH-64 down with a rifle (firing 7.62 I assume) is absurd, they’ve sustained direct RPG, SA-7 and 14.5mm hits during Iraqi Freedom and still managed to limp back to base
