I’m not sure if anyone else was there at MAN today (hardly the weather for it was it), but I was there to pick up my parents inbound from Heathrow on BMI, and caught a brief glimpse of what I believe was an Emirates 777-200LR from the T1 short stay car park. Can anyone else confirm whether it was there today? I just curse the fact I didn’t have a camera on me.
It was certainly GE-90 powered, and didn’t seem long enough for a -300ER, and I’m pretty sure EK’s 777-200ER’s are all Rolls Royce Trent powered.
Anyway, I’m off the point and rambling by now.
Top shots mate. 😉
I must admit, I know little about photography, but would like to learn sometime. I’ve picked out the Ricoh Capilo up there as I’m looking for something that I can slip in my pocket to take on holidays, weddings and so forth, so producing professional aviation shots isn’t exactly a high priority with the camera I’m shopping for at the moment.
However, I may well invest in a Nikon D40X as a Christmas present to myself, as according to the reviews I’ve read, it does feature a lot of automation to help you get good shots while your learning, and gives you the option to control the settings manually when you start getting to grips with what your doing. From my understanding, it’s a beginners SLR if there is such a thing.
I’m actually looking at getting a new camera myself, and have set my sights on this, the Ricoh Capilo R6. It’s got a good resolution at 7.2 Megapixels, 7.1 optical zoom (which is excellent considering how slim and compact it is), a good sized LCD screen and an easy to use interface.
Is Pam Ann the favoured airline of the DNA? (National Dyslexics Association)
And just like Delta, Spirit now have a smoldering bullet-hole in their foot in the livery stakes…..
It’s the Chinese that produce the KH-55 clone isn’t it?
I recall while I was looking for flights from Manchester – Miami last year, stumbling upon a direct flight with American Airlines on the ebookers website, listed as operated by a 767-300ER. However, at that time the prices were still a tad high, so I left booking until a few months on down the line, only to discover this was no longer on offer, and wound up flying with Delta via Atlanta, AGAIN. Interestingly enough though, I did recognise quite a few people from the trans-Atlantic 767 I’d just come off were dotted about the cabin on the connecting 757 from Atlanta.
So yeah, shaving a few hours off the annual Manchester – Miami run by flying direct would definitely be something I’d be interested in.
Looks very LTU’ish doesn’t it?
Enroute between CYYZ and CYVR aboard Air Canada 1175 Heavy,in the cruise over the ragged peaks of the Rockies below as we near Canada’s Pacific coast and the top of our descent.
BTW, fantastic shots Sam! 😮 Are they edited, or is that how LOMAC appears on your system? I no longer play as I use a nVidia 8800 series graphics card, which LOMAC takes a disliking to unfortunately, giving me jagged edges, even with anti-aliasing enabled, and a white ‘halo’ around everything. Oh how I do miss LOMAC 🙁

The shot of the BAe-146/RJ100 your referring to was taken during testing/certification of the type. I don’t think they’ve ever called it on it operationally to land or takeoff from semi prepared grass strips.

Quite frankly, I’m stumped as to why these neo-luddites decide to focus on aviation. As I recall, aviation emissions account for roughly 2% of global carbon emissions, being vastly outstripped by oceanic shipping and agriculture in terms of it’s impact on the environment.
I think my solution to this “Camp Climate Change” would be to wait until they’re all sheltering in their tents, then roll out a 747-400 or a 777, turn it so they’re in the jet blast and throttle upto maximum N1 whilst sitting on the parking brakes. Hopefully they’ll be in Cornwall by the time they realise what’s happening. 😀

Excellent shots mate! I’m especially fond of the Eurocypria 737-800 and the First Choice 767-300ER. The condesation effect and the dark, brooding skies give them a sense of drama, if you catch my drift.
Anyway, I’m rambling on a bit now, so I’ll close by saying once more, excellent work. 😉
Cheers, Mike
