There has been much talk of obtaining one of the last F4-J’s from Manston (?) dump, last year it seemed pretty much a done deal.
Why would the brakes be hot after a takeoff?
Don’t forget Hawks were modded to carry Sidewinders. They were to be used as point defence fighters in the event of a war.
At least 2 hawks were dumped over by the Vulcan/shack when I was at Valley in the early/mid 80’s.
I’m pretty sure one was XX180 (hit birds doing a roller at Mona) and the other was XX223 (burst a tyre on landing and scattered itself across various hard standings).
Cheers for the link Biggles, you’ve got some nice shots of my mates RV8, I’ll have to point him in this direction.
Any news on what happened at Old Buck? I know they were having a Vans fly in and local news is saying an aircraft went in there yesterday.
1978 chopper handlebars! 😀
Crushed walnut shells were used on RAF c-130 engines when I was a lad!
They were still used until quite recently (on both military and civil variants), but these days a Juniper rig and chemicals are used.
Andy wrote “There must be a local “likely” Pikey camp. I think we should all go round there.”
Start looking in West Meadows on the North edge of Ipswich.
There’s a pikey camp in Brockford itself.
Craig tools took over where Bardolph left off and have their catalogue as a reference on their site.
They also sell cutters in the angles you require.
Many, many thanks to Col for the photo opportunity. Greatly appreciated. 😀

Would the Col in question be a Mr .Pope?
And if they ever need to change the nosewheel on that Valiant, I’ve got a “nosewheel axle nut ” spanner for a Valiant out the garage! 😀
Here’s a pic of one at the revival rally at Sywell last year.

I’ve several of those in assorted sizes. I used them mainly on Wiggins couplings on fuel pipes.
Ah, a nice biased article on Ryanair again! Never let the facts get in the way of a good bit of bashing!
Seems Ryanair have apologised to those concerned, arranged the ferries the following day for free, and issued forms on how to claim back the cost of the hotel for the night.
Whilst the whole thing isn’t ideal, I struggle to see what any other airline would have done in such circumstances.
