Short Haul charter work is not where the money is these days, as for the last few years the charters have been losing out to the LoCos. Long Haul is where the money is due to a lack of any low cost competition (at least to the extent that is seen in short haul) and therefore I see no logical reason why MYT would axe what is most likely to be their most profitable division.

As I mentioned earlier LHR-MAD in 1989. It wasn’t until April 2001 that I flew again though, this time LHR-NCE!

Lovely pics, they were taken just about the time I had my first flight at the tender age of just 2 from Heathrow to Madrid, on a brand new BA Airbus A320-100. I only vaguely recall the flight, its amzing to see what was around at that time 😀

When people show me old schemes I can usualy see why they were ditched, but that BOAC one… just simply class!

Very sad news indeed, my condolences to the family, and also my praise to the crews of the Islanders who will no doubt be having to continue flying today doing this essential service.

Just as an aside how much longer do Loganair have with the contract until Gama take it over?
