The problem with the crosswind runway is:
a) It restricts use on both the other runways when operational
b) BA have to move all their parked aircraft at T4 before they can use it!
It is only ever used in severe crosswinds. There was a more in depth look at it in the Airliner World that had the Heathrow feature.
All Loganairs Islanders are being repainted into their old colours, as the franchise agreement on all these routes is terminating at the end of November.
Presumably there was very little benefit for BA and Loganair running them as franchise routes.
James I agree with you there. Air Malta is well overdue for a new livery. I saw one going into LHR last night and the colours just don’t really sit together I think.
I think you got it spot on Mongu.
But back to the regional runway at LHR, just think of the possibilities. Plymouth, Inverness, IOM, Exeter, the list goes on, all having connections to Heathrow.
This new runway wouldn’t just help London, but it would benefit the rest of the country greatly.
And remember: Airlines rarely pay list price !
Very interesting. A third runway might help Citiexpress off it’s feet. Or is that just wishful thinking!
£140.50 is the standard price at the moment. I’d love to fly in there, and the flightsim airport is terrible. There is a runway roughly next to the beach, with a grass taxiway cutting across a field to two other runways! Appalling!
I’m doing Heathrow to Lisbon 09/08 and the return 23/08 flying out with BA.
The a/c type keeps changing. So far I’ve been scheduled on: A319, A320, B757, B767!
OK thanks Greekdude. It is rarely noticeable, but it often catches me out on occassions like this!
Hmm, you’ll be competing with a rather well known Mr Summons however, but I wish you luck!
That Avanti that Wysiwyg was talking about visits Farnborough and Fairoaks quite regularly. I’ve no idea of the reg or operator though as I’ve never seen it when I’ve been up at Farnborough, just from my house.
All UK domestic flights check in at T1. You’ll then be bussed out to T4. They do it regularly when they run bigger stuff on the shuttle services.
You might get an airside tour!
They’re not? The top part of the fuselage looks green to me, but as I think I mentioned a little while back I am actualy slightly colour blind!
Yeah, it just looks a bit odd in Green when I have only ever seen them in white, thats all.
It’s a JS41 I think. Looks weird in United colours, I’m much more used to seeing them in white.
I though United were getting rid of their Jetstreams?
