Talks here about new An-124 reminded me those news about An-225 production in China. Did anything come out of that rumor?

So did Russians “gave permission” solely because of their love to Turkish side and their FSA allies? That FSA/TSK gaining territory somewhat benefited Russia or Assad in a ways I can’t see? Or they gave permission because they had no choice? Unlike JSR’s garbage this kind of thoughtless nationalistic posts amuse me..

? Really? yours amuses me, too :highly_amused:

Long story short, Russia won.

They did give permission for many reasons but these are the main ones:

1) Increase the wedge between US and Turkey.

2) Got the biggest prize of whole Syrian war, Aleppo, easier.

3) Made Turkey accept the rule of Assad.

What else do you want from Russian’s perspective?? Russia got everything they wanted. This is not a deal between equals.

What did Turkey get?

Isolation of a tiny Kurdish canton in North West of Syria. What is the strategic or even tactical value of that? Kurds already almost reached the maximum they could have achieved anyway. Also even the isolation of that little canton is no more because Assad can bridge it with the rest of Kurdish regions and Syria anyway…

I am serious what did Turkey get with all this Syria charade? 2 million refugees? A Kurdish entity that is supported by both Russia and USA?

There is no way the J 20 can be stealthier than the Pak Fa. The size difference is too big.

B-2 is stealthier than both. There! πŸ˜€

By the way until now only thing we have seen on PAKFA is good old regular aircraft paint. So yes, current J-20s are very much more stealth than PAKFAs flying around. J-20s even require Luneburg reflectors now.

How is that. I want hotdog’s input on this.

Well, pilot is ok at least. However, seriously, this is a little bit embarrassing. Without training this is what you get I guess. And cables must be acquired from a different source from now on. lol…

Iran thinks it as the big guy in the region so they will go with the appropriate fighter which is Su-30. I can bet on it. I do not think they will order another fighter.

By the way, the notion that Iran can build a J-10 is hilarious. No offence..:highly_amused::highly_amused:

no that’s just you being oversensitive.

The J-20 is flat, but not extremely long.

no, the images are quite accurate. note that you didn’t even bother trying to include the f-22 image in yours, let alone the right kind of scale.

J-20 is more likely 23 meters, as confirmed by many sources like
http://www.militaryfactory.com/aircraft/detail.asp?aircraft_id=860

J-20 is less than 21 meter long.

Mig 1.44 is an amazing looking machine. A company has to make a 1/48 model of it.

Yes, it is just you! πŸ™‚

I love the look of Mig 1.44. I would really LooooOVE to build a 1/48 model of it.

By the way, Paralay, could you make a drawing like this comparing all 5th generation fighters in it? F-22, F-35, J-20, J-21, PAK-FA, Mig-1.44, Su-47 and YF-23..?

Is it possible that the Russians may have sold them the technical design data of the Mig 1.44 ? We know that the J-10 bears a strong Lavi influences, the Z-10 received design help from Kamov. Could the J-20 design have some Russian influence ?

http://cavok.com.br/blog/wp-contents/uploads/2011/08/J-20-Mig-144.jpg

Certainly not, both looks great, though. I want to have both of them in 1/48 πŸ˜€

By the way, scale is off. 1.44 should be bigger.

I have actually.

There are different ways to interpret territorial waters/EEZs in the open ocean leading to some inconsistency in claims. The US does have vast territory in the Pacific but the US is not seeking to steal territory from any other sovereign state, unlike China, and the US’s claims extend from islands that are indisputably US territory, many of which have large populations, again, unlike China.

What China is doing is the equivalent of if the US announced that all of the Caribbean, including all of its islands and resources from Trinidad and Tobago to the Florida Keys were US possessions.

Though off topic, here is the article for general reference:

http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2013/11/new-america-map/ballard-text

Note that the US claims extend from:

Hawaii: Pop 1.4 million
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaii

Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands: Populations of 160,000 and 54,000 respectively.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guam
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Mariana_Islands

American Samoa: Population 55,000
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Samoa

The Aleutian Islands, part of Alaska: Population 1,500.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleutian_Islands

…and the United States Minor Outlying Islands: Baker Island, Howland Island, Jarvis Island, Johnston Atoll, Kingman Reef, Midway Islands, Palmyra Atoll, and Wake Island, some of which host small more or less permanent populations of research or military personnel, but none of which house true self sustaining populations.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Minor_Outlying_Islands

Only this last grouping of islands are really open to any debate as they are not truly inhabited, but none of them are subject to any ongoing territorial disputes and all of them have been under US control for more than 100 years, so if uninhabited rocks and islets count, then these are fair game.

Also worth a look, largest claimants of ocean territory:

http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/2013/11/new-america-map/underwater-holdings-map

#1 USA
#2 France
#3 Australia
#4 Russia
#5 UK
#6 New Zealand

And, as you read from the article, USA is still planning and actively working on increasing its EEZ and author is very proud and excited about this πŸ™‚

It is not a fair to try paint China an expansionist or aggressive power when Japan has its own ADIZ as seen on the map which covers whole East China Sea. If you can define Japan is expansionist or aggressive, you can do so for China too. If you cannot see this, you are not objective in my opinion. Think it this way, Cuba, a country about the size of Japan, had an ADIZ as large as Japan what would USA do?

Also it is ironic that USA is fully supporting Japan now. The reason why these forces have been in that region at first place was WW2 and Japan’s attack to basically everyone else and determination of USA to suppress Japan’s military. History and politics are fun… πŸ™‚

And when you look into those tiny rocks, It is acknowledged by USA during and after WW2, they are part of Taiwan. Japan supposed to return invaded (stolen was the actual word used) lands to China including Taiwan after the war. However CCP won the war in China and Taiwan become almost independent and these rocks somehow remained in limbo. It is quite clear to me that these island are part of Taiwan because before the invasion of Taiwan by Japan, they were not under Japan rule.
