If they wanted it was clearly possible to design a “~” shape trunk;
1) Engine and intake is not at the same plane;

Half of the turbine is over wing surface but intake is completely under.
2) In both F-22 and f-23 trunks become narrower.
3) Again if they wanted to, PAK-FA intake can have a relatively complex “~” shape changing its direction both in vertical and horizontal plane to let cover blades.

I give up you can not comprehend 😀
Wait a little bit long:) we will have beautiful UCAVs starting from USA 😀
Can you think more one dimensional????
I bet you cannot see engines from front. I think engine trunk going up and then down like “~”
Same as Su-27
Which is my point. It has a similar layout as the YF-23…minus the extreme S-ducts of the YF-23 (and minus a lot of other stealthy features the YF-23 had)
Ok. The question is…how is the engine face hidden? Is it hidden to the same degree as the F-22? I just don’t see it being physically possible. There’s not a lot of room in the horizontal or vertical plain for it.
Second, measures to reduce RCS on the Su-35BM or the F/A-18…as good as they may be, are still not in the same league as F-22 measures.
Third, the underside itself seems pretty bad for stealth.
Ok. My one dimensional friend,
Air trunk and the dimension of the inlet wont be the same, here a drawing for one possibility;

Red: inlet (what you see from outside)
Black: turbine blades
Orange: trunk placement and diameter closer to inlet
Blue: trunk placement and diameter closer to blades
Sorry wrong quote, I was talking to “Kapedani”
:rolleyes:
Ducted-S in the vertical plane (as the manufacturer alludes and certainly appear more sophisticated than F-22/35):
Nice pic of the underside btw, very impressive indeed!…….oh, and you failed to notice the MLG retracts into the intake compartments (and not the wings a la Su-27/35)…….from your own pic!!!??? Jeepers Creepers.

OK… my expectations are fulfilled. Actually it is better looking than I hoped:) IF I am not wrong, one of the guys from Sukhoi told that it will have one piece canopy for production aircraft so it will even look better.
For my eyes, weapons bays look very large. I think their capacity will be significant.
For stealth features, shape wise, from front it look very nice too.
Fuel capacity looks high too due to large wings.
Now 1/48 model please 😀
Thanks for the pictures and videos guys. Although, bbc was the first place I saw the bird 😀
Hmmm… “failure of a basic system” I think pilot was too drunk.
Really nice looking aircraft.
He was talking about *slightly more conservative aerodynamic configuration*. Fail to see any connection to RCS..
You should read it in context. What does following says? :”Yes. The aerodynamic configuration of PAK FA is slightly more conservative compared to the F-22, but without a doubt, measures have been implemented on the aircraft to reduce it’s visibility in all (not just radar) physical fields. “
Stealth features affect shape of the aircraft hence aerodynamics. Actually probably this means PAK-FA will have better flying characteristics but worse stealth features than F-22.
I think by saying “a more conservative design than F-22” he was talking about stealth features.
You know what, I have a feeling that at the end PAK-FA will be very similar to very very early artist impression from NPO Saturn.

no more LCA everywhere…J10 is just a newcomer of 3re gen fighters(first flight in 1998, get into service in 2003, and just 5 regiments were formed by now, 2 more ongoing, about 180 J10A in total ),nothing more, how could this paper plane compare to the superb LCA?(especially the legend–MK2 coming in 2012 )…
let’s focus on the topic, but I have to say it’s none sense itself, maybe we should start this discussion when more details of J10B are revealed or the first contract is inked…J10 hasn’t proved itself in a combat or market.that’s why I call it a paper plane…J10A could barely compare to the early models of mature bird f16. and this new model B means chinese aviation industry is trying to improve it with new knowledge and technology absorbed recently…
J10 has been(not “is likely to”) in mass production in china… the second J10 assemble line is working. the new pics taken near 132 factory at the end of 2009 show loads of new J10As in yellow skins are test flying. the 7th J10A regiment has got first 4 in mid Dec 2009 and I will be happy to prove it with reality(pics and news) not the vanity(such words as “will”,”project”,”plan” which we have heard too much from XXXXXX ). and since 2003,about 180 J10As have entered into service, about 30 jets/year . not too slow…Let’s wait to see the another ‘likely’ to happen. only time will tell.
OMG! I really thought he was being sarcastic at first but then I realized he was serious. dude…
MK2 is a legend (not even flow) but a plane in full production (reached ~200) is a paper fighter. I cannot write anything on top of this. Thanks for the laugh tough 😀
I think it will be a success if they can produce a successful engine to go with it. It already secured Pakistan order.
there is no HUD, It has that “land attack” cockpit of rafale there is Martin-Baker Mark 16F ejection seat. I say it is Rafale simulator. Image is taken from a friendly visit to France.
