RE: Music/Musician That You Can’t Stand?!?!

first of all I really hate modern new bands that try to make money by making a lousy cover version of some great 80s pop/rock song. Almost all the cover songs I’ve heard in the last 10 years are incredibly lousy.

Second of all, I hate all the current pop music because it’s too soft, especially those boy bands. Rap, R&B, house are also very sleep-inducing (boring). I especially hate rap artists who think they’re tough, but really are not (like Eminem). I’ve never even heard a tough rap song.

Thirdly I really hate soap actors that can’t sing, but still get a music contract just because they’re famous.

RE: Anyone from Nijmegen?

I’ve lived in Nijmegen for half a year, but that was some 5 years ago. I didn’t go out much then because I spent most my weekends with my girlfriend at home. But anyway, my favourite would be the Rockcafe, as I’m a heavy metal fan.

Nijmegen is a university town, with lots of students obviously. They are the ones that go to the pubs mostly, so most of the pubs reflect that. Most of the nice pubs are in the centre of Nijmegen, so that would be your best bet for fun.

It’s in Dutch (sorry couldn’t find a English language site), but maybe you can make some sense out of it. Anyway it has a nice map of the centre of the city, with 3 pub visiting routes displayed. Also the names of some pubs can be found there, along with some info. One can look at pictures of the pubs, so you might get a feel for the ‘ambiance’.

Nijmegen has some discos and dancings as well, Extravaganza is generally said to be the best. Doornroosje should be nice as well. Adresses of other dancings can be found here:

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-05-02 AT 07:27 AM (GMT)]A lot of people say that this was a bad day for democracy. I don’t agree. It was an individual who shot Fortuyn, not one of the other parties. Had the hit been ordered by a politician, then it would have been a bad day for democracy, not now.

JJ, it is not right to blame the politicians and media, just because they were anti-Fortuyn. That was the right thing to do. Idiots like him must be opposed. Just like they did in France. That is the only way to stop folks like him. That is what called DEMOCRACY. I don’t think those anti-Fortuyn media actions were in any way responsible for his murder, not even indirectly. They didn’t call for his assasination, now did they?

They have one suspect in custody BTW. A white male, 33 years old from Harderwijk. He’s a left wing radical.

That AAW ship’s radar is a Dutch design, phased array, just like Aegis. Some say it’s even better than Aegis, but I don’t know if that’s true. The ship is equipped with Standard SM2 missile (block IV IIRC) and VL Sea Sparrow ESSM. It has 40 VLS tubes, 32 of which will be regularly loaded with Standard, whereas the remaining 8 carry 32 VL ESSMs.

Most of the Kortenaers have been sold to Greece and some Gulf nation (Dubai??). I don’t know if any are left for sale.
