What about the ejector seats, are they live ? for whats it worth I would hope that the are safely dissarmed, its got to be one less thing for the restoration teams to worry about. And I would not have thought the Lightning ect would be zero zero so of little use to the pilot.

would it be possible to have the “previsious thread/next thread”
option at the top of the thread (as well as the bottom) this would allow
quicker movement away from old threads.

    Still no spell checker ?

“you would allow someone else to display your plane if you could’nt”

There is a difference between gaining pleasure in owning and flying an aircraft and giving public displays.
Just because an owner is not able to give a public display because of either experiance or health grounds does not stop him flying the ‘just for fun’ or carrying out transit flights, assuming he (or she) has the necessary type certificate.
There must be many high houred military and commerical pilots out there who given the opertunity could undertake training to become warbird display pilots. Starting with Tiger Moth / Havard, moving on to the big stuff later.

Wow, It been a while since I’ve been on line what great news to come back to.

Anbody in the USA have details of the owners planns to display teh Seafire at airshows across the states. I assum the distances involved prevent alot of cross country fights.

Any plans for attending Oshkosh or the Midland CAF show?

Totally agree with the lack of a preserved HS748 in the UK. Although a would guess that the market value of such aircraft is still to high to expect a complete airframe to be given out to a museum. I would have throught that one of ex CAA flight checker aircraft should have gone to Wroughton as part of the sceince museum collect, those aircraft were old series 1 and would have had litle resale value as they were not in transport configuration. Where did they end up last I heard they were at either Newcastle or Exeter, any answers ???

Do you mean the Princess flying boat?
A quick google found this image and the following quote, certainly one which I’ve never heard about

“Aero Spacelines, Inc., has obtained options to purchase two English-built Saunders-Roe Princess Flying boats from the still-unidentified European company which recently bought the three existing Princesses from the British govenment. Aero Spacelines plans to submit an unsolicited proposal to NASA to convert the flying boats into turbofan, land-based aircraft to haul Saturn rocket stages. (Text from Aviation Week February 3, 1964)”

Ok Ok I got to ask. what is it you are all bidding for ?

The company I work for has recently ‘closed down’ a lot of non work related web sites such as ebay and Exchange and Mart, so I can not check for myself. I’ve been told to watch out about the ‘non business use’ web sites and email groups, big brother is watching!. Hey I dont care as I leave the company next Friday. The firm has become tedious and boring to work for, with too many managers and memo’s about counting the paper clips. Does anybody else have to watch their back when using the web or sending private email from work?

Is the Vikers Viking the airframe that used to be in the Cosford store and is it still without wings. Do the wings still existing ?
I’ve never understood my the wings from the NEAM Valetta, burnt out by vandals several years ago, could not have been aquired and fitted to the Viking. I assume they would be the same?
