    cheap is not alway good!

I dont my PPL at NSOF, Sywell (now moved to sibson). Although at the time not the cheapest place to do it, I found that the club, the owners and the planes were great. I fly a PA28, again I could have done it cheaper in a 150 or something, but I feel the PA28 gave me a bit more confidence in my flying.

All in all, go where you feel most at home, where you can go and relax. Most of all find an instructor that suits you, dont be affriad to change them either, I think I had about 4 in the end, mainly 2, doug and charly, but always felt at home jumping in the plane with anyone there!

Have a great time doing it…

P.s. I dont mine while doing my dissertation in the final year of uni, and still got a 2:1 Hons, in Business Entrepreneurship!

    Adios for now!

    lol – no problem.

I fly a warrior – which I hear is can make poeple feel sick – they have a certain smell about them I always think.

We will just be doing local out of sywell or crainfield depending on plane av. Sometimes we go to duxford, etc. But at present I have to keep the flights under an hour, but we are getting there!

    thanks again!

    well… I have a PPL but still use FS2002 just for fun…

I fly on http://www.eskyworld.com, you have to do full IFR, inc flight plans, the lot. Then you sign in, and a real person controls you, from clearence delivery to joining the localiser, and taxiing to the gates, all under full ATC..

Also make some zero vis approaches on the ILS without using autopilot.. very interesting!

    hi there

I am near on the completion of my PPL, and its cost me about £6000 (about $8000 US), so its not cheap at all…

I will have completed with any luck at the minimum hours required, but I currently fly a warrior, so not the cheapest route.

As for keeping it current, well you have to fly a minimum amount of hours a year, so you will have to keep that up. But not only that you will want to be flying all the time you can get!!!

As for for commerical.. well I am trying to get sponsourship now.. I have looked at a few courses in the UK that look ok, however I have family commitments, and moving to new zeland to complete the McAlpine course maybe a little too hard for me, as its hard to leave a love one for so long!

Apart from that good luck, you have chosen the most rewarding thing you will ever do.

Dont believe you will get paid a mint if you are a pilot though… most FO’s get about the same as a check-out person at Tesco’s supermarket (£15-20k), but a captain can expect about 60k + (taken from Easyjets web site).

Plus you will be repaying all the hard earnt money that pays for your training!!!

I personally will have a degree this time next year, and dont know what to do, as it is in Business Entrepreneurship. So I may work for a while before continuing on my flying career, but I know its what I want to do.. what could be better!!

    Hope that helps you out!

good luck with what ever you do.. and remember.. enjoy it!

i cant believe it… I only went and passed my nav exam yesterday! What a run i am having, I only got 76% but a pass is a pass.. and its another one done! Now looking into aeroplane tech and planning.. should be ok on the planning.. look fairly logical, and technical, well its just a case of learning, as is everything..

Then there is my RT exam and written, then in there! All i have to do then is convince a examiner I really can fly this dam thing!

hope you are all having sucess too…

i own a web site design company. http://www.offbeatwebdesign.co.uk.

Personally I use Fireworks MX, by far the best prog for making animated gifs, as you can do so many advanced things with it, and it itergrates with all the other mx progs.

Get into MX and you cant go far wrong!

any more help need just email me and I will try my best to help!
