    Just a maybe stupid question, but is this a “real” project or just “fan-art” ??

    Deino 😮

    Just fun-art.

    That designer certainly posses creativity but doesn’t have a clue about ships.

    I could have predicted that too 🙂

    Oh, You, the smartest among us, can You predict results of Tottenham – Milan and Barcelona – Arsenal UEFA Chamipons League clashes?:D (they play on Tuesday and Wednesday)

    Or, if you can’t, start writing letters to Pogosyan and tell him he does it wrong all the time…

    Gadaffi should spare all the trouble and just leave.

    Oh, you are so naive Aspis, don’t you see that the man wants to leave in style:D

    Italy seems pretty quiet all this time. Would they be willing to provide the bases for eventual action?

    Has anybody already sent some fighters to Malta or the USN carriers are the only tolls available ATM?

    Because the T2/3 airframes are designed for upgrades such as CFT’s, AESA mods in the nose/cockpit area etc. Hence why it’ll cost quite a bit more to upgrade the T1 airframes. Am I correct?

    Because of that, thats why if India selects the Typhoon, it’ll be Tranche 3.

    As for the Tranche 1 aircraft, I’m sure other countries such as Slovakia, Oman, Qatar etc would be happy enough to operate those ones if they just want a basic package/airframe.

    How much life the T1 airframes have in them/will have in time when they should be retired/stored?

    Well, I was thinking the same. Stability could be an issue. How would the thing behave on the rough sea?

    Would all the barges be self propelled or some would have to be “dragged”?

    Making them as catamarans and flat (if you want this thing to be stealthy) would not leave much space to fit various systems on them.

    Add Germans to that list.

    Anyway, only transports are flying in and evacuating civilians.

    nope not at all!
    not that I trust the corporate Americans
    propogandistic Chinese
    sly French led by the slyest french leader of all time
    but most of all.. those Bulgarians, offerng peace on the one hand, stealing your islands with their feet. its actually admirable at times.

    It’s always the Bulgarians plotting something…
    Do you know something we all don’t (including our Bulgarian friends)?

    No pun intended, but you seem to be obsessed with the Bulgarians…

    Stop behaving like a certain member of this forum who ends his prayers saying “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the F-35″…

    Interesting questions. The hangar is tall enough as is for Kamov’s coaxial helos, but the Ka-50/52 will need to be refitted with folding rotors and the forward elevator might need to be widened slightly to accommodate its stub wings, IIRC. My hope is that the Russian Navy will go for the 25000t variant and use the extra weight and space margins it offers to fit decent defensive armament (2+ Kashtan-M/Palma, maybe Udav torpedo defence systems). In its current fit, the Mistral is pretty defenceless against anything beyond suicide RIBs and very light aircraft/missile attack.

    The elevator shouldn’t be a problem then. Kamov has experience with folding rotors, so that shouldn’t be a problem either. Putting some defensive armament should make the ship safe to asymmetric threats to some extent, but that ship should always go as a part of the assault package (it should have some AAW and ASW escorts to cover her a$$).

    its been over 12 years since the first flight of the Ka-60 and its future is still uncertain.. if it goes a year longer then it’ll be in the same class as the NH-90 and EH-101 for first flight to IOC. The naval version is Ka-60K.

    but I heard Ka-27 series will keep being upgraded, and its still useful. its like the Mi-8/17 vs Mi-38 issue for Mil.

    You are right, the naval version is Ka-60K. Do you have some more info on these modifications?

    More likely than not the Mistrals will get a bunch of lousy Ka-226’s actually and Im not kidding. Kamov is lobbying for some FLIR equipped Ka-226 model for the Mistrals.

    That would be really sad. To ditch the Ka-60 and place that laughably looking Ka-226 on the deck wouldn’t even scare a bunch of kids playing in front of a kindergarden. They would think Santa Claus was coming. I am aware it’s not about the looks, but capability, and I’m wondering what kind of Ka-226 will they invent for this role.

    Anyway, soyuz, I hope they don’t make it this way and that they will pull it out whit Kasatka.

    The Ka-60 would be a good solution too, but perhaps a bit on the small side for both assault and ASW roles.

    The Ka-60 is very similar (in dimensions and looks) to the AS 565 Panther and Marine Nationale uses it for assault, utility, ASW and SAR roles. I assume it shouldn’t be a problem for the Russians to develop these versions if they make it with Kasatka.

    Information on this helo is really obscure. Nothing has been reported since that crash of several months ago. Does the MoD finances the chopper or the Kamov is doing all the work?

    Tango III already posted that in the “general” news thread.

    I am wondering which version will the Russian Navy choose. As the DCNS were marketing the ship first in 4 (14,000t, 16,000t, 21,500t and 25,000t) and now in 2 versions (14,000t and 21,500t).

    Anybody knows dimensions of her hangars? Will Kamovs be able to fit inside? (height)

    Or they will require some modifications?

    I read somewhere long ago that there was Ka-60 navalized version (dubbed Ka-64 or something) and it was being considered as the replacement of Ka-27/8/9/31 series… anybody has any info on that? Or the Russians will have to stick with Ka-27 in the next decade?

    any pictures of these vietnamese ones?
    also are they built in Tatarstan? isn’t that quite far from the ocean?

    Yup. Very interesting. That shipyard is located on the Volga river and has been (maybe) the most secret Russian naval shipyard during Cold War.

    Soyuz1917 and UAZ, thank you for additional information:)

    If there is some more info, regarding active Russian shipyards, please, let us know so we could try to make a final list.

    I wonder if Russia would sell the PAK-FA to China??? Which, would give the PLAAF both the PAK-FA and J-20. Which, be a good insurance policy against the failure of the latter. Plus, it would provide valuble insight in to Advance Russia Technology….

    Of course it would be stupid on Russia’s part. Yet, that has stopped her so far. :confused:

    Let’s try not to pollute this thread anymore with some wild hypothesis. Just leave it Scooter… This can only bring another flame war or limitless OT discussion.

    There is an export version of 22350 which is very similar to 11356M in terms of armaments and sensors. That might be your next order 😉

    I think it’s called 22356 and somebody already posted that in this thread.

    Baltic Shipyard in St. Peterburg – former Leningrad (nuclear powered cruisers, like 38k ton Pjotr Veliky) and Sevmash (nuclear powered subs, like 50k ton Typhoon) in Severodvinsk. Possibly Vladivostok too (destroyers).

    Thank you very much for the sources Wan:)

    I knew of 3 shipyards capable of making warships but I was wondering if there were some more…

    So, a small resume, the Russians have Severnaya(1), which is currently making the Gorshkov class frigates (Admiral Gorshkov being launched while Admiral Kasatonov has been laid down)and Stereguschiy class corvettes. Stereguschiy and Sobrazitelniy have been already launched while Boiky and Stoiky are still under construction.

    Fourth chip of the class, Soversheniy, is buing built at Amur Shipyard(2) at Komsomolsk and should be launched soon.

    Baltic shipyard doesn’t make warships anymore (Peter the Great being the latest), while Admiralty(3) makes diesel subs (Kilos and Ladas).

    Yantar(4) builds the Talwar class (both for India and now for Russia) while Almaz(5) builds (built) small missile boats, patrol boats and air-cushion crafts.

    In the end, Sevmash(6) is responsible for nuclear powered subs (Borei and Yasen).

    That gives us six active shipyards.

    Four of them building surface combatants:
    * Yantar – frigates,
    * Severnaya – frigates and corvettes,
    * Amur – corvettes,
    * Almaz – small displacement combatants.

    Remaining two are tasked with building submarines:
    * Sevmash – nuclear subs,
    * Amiralty – diesel subs.

    I didn’t include repair plants, only those yards which make warships.

    If anyone else has some other info, if I missed out something important, or if I made mistakes while making this assessment, please correct me:)

    What happened with a “Mi-28 stop-gap option” till T-129 comes into inventory?

    Are there any other “stop-gap alternatives” or TuAF will wait for their customized Agustas?

    I was wondering why they didn’t just make more Talwars instead of relying exclusively on Project 22350 models

    Maybe because they were looking more long term as Talwars are another reincarnation of the Krivak which is reaching the end of its growth potential, while the 22350’s are still to be properly shaped…

    How many shipyards in Russia are capable of building high tonnage warships?

    And what would be their optimal output?
