What is 3B-500 (8th store down)?

Peter, in Russian that would be ZB-500 incendiary bomb.

Three centreline stores would be UPAZ, APK-9, not sure on the third?

I have exactly the same question for Pesho. What is fantasmagoriya (I hope I spelled it right)? Is it a recce pod, EW pod…

The Bahrain International Airshow will be organized by Farnborough International Limited, the company that is organizing The Farnborough International Airshow and that is the only connection those two events have = the same organizer.

So, hypothetically speaking, if Farnborough International Limited gets job to organize an airshow in Paris or Moscow, should Le Bourget or MAKS be changed into Farnborough?

No in german it’s also seven thirty or half eight 😉

I suppose Ken was thinking of the time zone difference here 😉

EDIT: English itself shouldn’t be mess, but with all those cultural differences of the people using it, it can really become a puzzle.

Nice photos. Interesting that in the 3rd shot, the MiG-31 is parked before the MiG-29. If you look at the rest of the lineup, it seems to the all the MiG-made jet fighters in order from the MiG-9 onwards. Just something I noticed….

Second and third photo were taken at Monino Air Force Museum. In front of that Fulcrum are lined up Sukhois (which are not visible on this 3rd photo).

The air group probably wasn’t on board. The photo may have been taken after the Nimitz finished a major refit and they were putting her through the ringer has part of the shakedown.

That’s what has probably happened here. The funny thing though is that there were still tractors on her deck while her skipper was undertaking this crazy stunt 😎

So, we still don’t have any official info regarding this photo

As I am not an expert in assessing the damage, does anybody know what’s gonna happen with the 903? Does she go to the surgery room or to the graveyard?

What concerns me is that changing course at high speed makes all the aircraft fall off!

Don’t worry, they are all properly tied up (either on the deck or bellow in hangars).

Although I guess you just didn’t express it explicitly here, while we probably do share a stance on that. 🙂

Exactly, that was never my intention as I cannot fully agree with every bit of the aforementioned theory. Can it be useful – until large extent yes but as every other ethical theory it has its limits and it will remain what it is – a theory.

But then again I don’t think that something like that can be forced upon other people. All that is left, in my opinion, is to lead by example and try to be the most mature, tolerant, peaceful and respectful person and society one can be. I think leading by example is the only way good behaviour can genuinely spread and take hold. 🙂

Very nice idea. 🙂 But to be a role model for the masses you have to stand very high so that everybody can see you. But in this world as it is today, as there are many who can and are willful to follow you there will unfortunately always be those that will want to take you down for their own (egoistic) reasons.

Oh, I forgot one thing to put that is as much relevant as the purpose of this thread:

Mod edit: it was hilarious, but totally outside the boundaries for this forum.

Enjoy.

The problem is that those with extreme ideologies in that region are stuck in the 12th Century.

As someone once said it – get on the plane and try to visit those places. Maybe from time to time you could talk to the natives from various sides (as there are many in the Middle East) and try to get their opinions of the matter and their way of reasoning. Then if you would use your common sense you would understand that they are not all bloody idiots riding camels and being ready to become martyrs but just normal people as all of us are. Trying to ignore this huge cultural difference often brings people into delusion and makes them bring different (often wrong) conclusion.

There are no universally accepted ethical standards. One only needs to have a minimal understanding of various cultures to see this. I have my ethical views and you have yours: neither my views nor yours are better or more correct.
And you still come to judge people you barely understand.

I see you still buy the marketing gig about F-35 getting cheaper with time. LOL, care to explain why today’s F-16s cost 3,5x as much as LRP?

If, you want to make such comparisons. First, you would have to compare the two in USD for the same fiscal year.:rolleyes::rolleyes: So, take the price of a F-16A in 1979 and adjust the price in todays USD’s.

That’s like comparing a gallon of milk in 1979 with one today! Further, how much more capable and how many more “extra’s” are on todays aircraft…….

APPLES AND ORANGES

The point here is that he is very much right. He is just making the parallel between the two which points out what will probably happen in the future. It will hardly happen that such a complex warfighting machine scheduled for not that cheap and simple upgrades during its lifespan will be cheaper as the time goes by. The LM claims that the price will be X in 2015 and will be falling down as the production line becomes very busy in the forthcoming years. What if by then the Raytheon or other subcontractors appear with some new goodies that are worth some more and all of a sudden those gadgets become an integral part of your beloved machine. Do you think that those goodies will come free of charge? Or the LM has already accounted all the upgrade costs in their estimates?

And how can you predict inflation in this economic turmoil?
