NH90 was delayed by having 25 variants, 5 assembly lines and 3500 unforeseen customer requirements.

Source: Flight International 24-30 October 2006

That’s how popular it is – all the above occurred before the first helo had entered service.

    Which 25 variants:confused:

AFAIK, there are 2 principal variants (TTH and NFH) and also there’s this high cabin version of the helicopter that is being used by the Swedes.

I know that both TTH and NFH are intended to be used for various tasks but does that mean that the NH90 requires heavy modifications? For example couldn’t the same bird do troop transport, SAR and MEDEVAC (or even training) without modifications?

Also, I think that Australians are still concerned with the bird:

    Projects of Concern Update

Minister for Defence Stephen Smith and Minister for Defence Materiel Jason Clare today provided an update to the Projects of Concern List.

The ANZAC Class Anti-Ship Missile Defence (ASMD) project has been removed from the Projects of Concern list and the Multi Role Helicopter (MRH-90) project has been added.

R27 is not unguided rockets, and if it able to carry 2x R27 there is no reason it could carry 2x rvv-ae (and the rvv-ae in the chart are assymetric that is weird)

Where do you see double R-27 pylon in the scheme that I uploaded?

This should help you out with your dilemma TR1 🙂 I don’t know how accurate it is and where I found it 😮

I don’t think anything else but unguided rockets and bombs could be packed on these dual pylons (as this scheme suggests anyway).

Has anybody got an overlay of the Mig29K vs the Su33, its just I’m curious how a larger aircraft like the Su33 has a smaller deck footprint then the Mig29K.

I think that Ken should have it. I’m not quite sure but I think he posted it several times on these boards.

in other words you are saying that the Swiss hastily bought the F-5 with out taking into consideration that the F-16 was coming out soon.

I’m saying what Distiller’s acquaintance said, or Distiller interpreted it this way himself.

And yes, if his last post is accurate (ie. credibility of his “friend”) we could assume that’s the way they acted.

Well, they couldn’t have known with certainty how the Falcon was going to turn out. On the other hand, they had a proven product.

A shot from the hip” Hottie. Well it literally means what’s written there; ie. shooting a gun from your hip – John Wayne style, though it’s still being practiced by some special forces units around the world.

But what our dear Distiller had in mind was figurative meaning of this phrase which should be: to react to a situation quickly without considering possible effects of your action(s).

I guess you are talking about this photo

MFD’s are definitely different. All of them. On the SM3 they look lower in height and the middle one (just behind the “gaming stick”) is wider than the one in “standard SM”.

That’s almost 80 million dollars apiece – not as cheap as they used to be?

Does that include anything else beside the jets? Weapons et al?

We don’t have details of what’s included in this price but if that price was for jets only, then for sure these Sukhois are becoming pricey.

Hotdog, take damn pills, will you!!! You and your fixation of Bulgarian threat, it’s ridiculous… and just for a possibility of Bulgaria getting small amount of second hand Eurofighters you had to wake up this pointless thread… my, my, my… wake up Hottie.

What would be a price difference between standard and these “smart” rockets?

I guess its considerable. In CayceG’s link it says it was tested in 1999 but never put into production.

Well, I come as a newbie to this part of the forum, but as a huge movie fun I was “checking you” out occasionally:)

The last thing I’ve seen would be

    Blitz

with Jason Statham and Paddy Considine. Seeing who’s the main star you don’t have to guess the genre of this film 😀

Well, I’d give it a 7/10 and not because of Jason Statham but rather beautiful Zawe Ashton 🙂

    @DazDaMan,

while I could agree on most of your remarks I am a bit puzzled by your mark for Inglourious Basterds. Only 5/10:eek: I know it’s most probably a matter of taste, but the movie is fantastic, and now Baron de Ley (Reserva Rioha) asks you for an explanation:D

Its really difficult to understand this, the whole French government is behind the project Rafale, Sarkozy is acting as Dassault Marketing CEO, two days after the rejection, the Foreign minister paid a visit to UAE to salvage whatever is left , two weeks ago a French parliamentary delegation visited India, the PM is on his way to Brazil to sell the Rafale, nobody can say the French government is not trying hard enough..

So, entire country’s leadership stands behind it and still nothing. Brazil seems as an never ending saga, the UAE are slowly drifting away and Indian competition gives it 50% chance. Some things are being done in a wrong way, be it French selling strategy, be it price or something else. It would be pity that such advanced and beautiful plane remains flown only by the AdlA and the MN.
