Ten years after a Concorde crash killed 113 people, Continental Airlines faces a trial on Tuesday to determine its responsibility in a disaster which ended an era of luxury supersonic travel for the super rich.

Previous investigations have concluded that one of the Concorde’s tyres was punctured by a small piece of metal that had fallen off a departing Continental Airlines flight, hurling debris into the plane’s fuel tanks and causing a raging fire.

At the end of the day all we see here is a money grab by lawyers….

Items fall off aircraft all the time! Wether its because its overlooked, not seen, simple bad luck etc…. It was NOT negligence on the part of Continental Airlines that caused the ACCIDENT!

A squence of events occured which yes, caused the plane to ultimately crash, but to directly blame the preceding aircraft is a absolute load of rubbish!

Yeah, and they’re probably on the dole, living off taxpayers’ money.

So people who have a job arent scum bags? I beg to differ…..

Many years ago at the Brisbane airport a group of “people” cut the airport perimeter fence and then spray painted a parked 747 frieghter on the southern end of the airport.

Several times over the past few years at Townsville airport people have jumped the fence at the adjoining RAAF base to “walk” to the terminal as a short cut…. some got as far as the active runway.

Brisbane airport is the same, with people jumping fences to “catch” planes cause they are late….

I dont consider them scum… just more examples of braindead morons who are becoming more and more frequent in todays ever wonderful uneducated society.

I don’t know how many time its has to be shown to a certain member on here, but one more try I think.

It was shown how the F-22 externally its intakes and design “appear” to 100% straight and pretty much inline with the engine face. Yet we all know that the compressor face isnt visible from the front.

Seemingly that mere fact only applies to the F-22 and obviously any other aircraft is inferior…. and cant possibly have an “S” type duct.

The top half of the engine isnt visible at the very least if we have a straight intake….

    http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l319/roadwarriormfp/PAK-FA-1copy.jpg

Also as can be seen there is the large amount of room taken up within the intake area by the undercarriage.
The engines are also not inline with each other and are possibly toed in at the front so they are inline with the airflow because of the internal bend with the intake caused by the wheel well area.

I would guess that the entire fan isnt hidden, but at the very least 90% of it is.

Something bothers me about the video. It just doesn’t match the flight photos. The engines are smaller in the video, not a lot, but they seem to be slightly different. The tails don’t match. The video machine looks rougher than the one in the photos. Could the video be some kind of full scale mockup prior to the actual flying machine?

This is why this thread shouldnt have been started until the Mods closed the other one off…..

Some of the news footage shows both aircraft mixed together in the clips.
One clip shows the aircraft during high speed taxi tests and rotating the aircrafts nose off the ground. This aircraft has a slightly different tail fairing to the aircraft which actually flew.

Mods if your out there, please close one of these threads!!!

Might pay to ask the mods to shut the other thread, as most people will go there directly!

One more thing too…. the engines dont appear to be inline, slighty canted outwards in the horizontal plane…

I would doubt the straightness of the ducts internally, like everyone has said, that landing gear takes up quite a bit of room and would protrude into the intake considerably.

Another thing you can see here is the two wing hardpoints? There are four white dots on each side….

Those internal weapons bays are huge!

    Dare i say it?

The only thing which to me is odd is the ground stance… the nose leg is far too short? Kinda sits up too much at the rear….

    Ducks for cover…

    Thanks Quadro!

There is a nice plan shot of the aircraft as it banks!

    Screen grabs anyone??!?!?!

In the days before the internet, I can remember racing to the newsagent here to buy the latest copy of Air International because it had the first grainy pictures of the Mig-29 ! (which was 2 months behind because it must be flown by airship to Australia… haha)

The fact that the US hasnt realease any grainy satellite pictures is very odd indeed, I guess the days of the cold war spying (and showing the public how “good” their intelligence was is over?

Im sure that the USA already has plenty of info on it already, though like was posted before, im sure they wont admit it.

    Cant wait for the pictures!!!!!!!!!

I’ve seen a picture with 8 pylons loaded in flight (not with the MERs though). Almost certain it was during initial testing though. I’ll see if I can hunt it down over the weekend.

There was a picture in an old book I saw back in the early 1980s which showed a grey(?) F-111 loaded with cargo canisters on all 4 pylons. The outer 2 pylons had triple racks, while im almost sure the inners had MERs..

How did an amusing animation devolve into this nonsense?

Er because people are unable to understand what the difference between humour and reality is?

Seemingly because you cant shoot down a Raptor in real life (heaven forbid) it has to be frowned upon. Instead of enjoying the clip for what it was…

And if anyone knows what the yellow plane is ????

    Its called “out-sourcing”…..

Why let defence do it, if you can give the money to the private sector instead????

The Caribou would have to be one of the most important planes in the “modern” RAAF. It did its job without much fan fare, but its roles were varied. From Vietnam, PNG, flood supply drops in Australia itself, its was the somewhat quiet (?) achiver???? lol

Most major carriers will have spare engines already in place at major airports they fly to or nearby already. Most of these would be transproted by a cheaper and slower means, ship usually. (or airfreighted on dedicated cargo planes).

A lot of the time the airlines will also have a spare “ship” (plane) nearby doing nothing so its a case of just swapping planes and waiting for the spare engine to show up.
