‘Wow’
The Australian Government is putting a lot of effort and way too much money into a so-called F-111C/G – F-35 gap filler.
Crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pioneer
Firstly no orders have been placed on the Growlers… so no “other” money has been spent…. and the growlers wouldnt be part of the “stop gap” for the F-35. The Super Hornet decision as “just” a stop gap is also not 100% set in concrete…. They are still toying with the idea of a mixed fleet.
F-35s with F-18F and EF-18s….
The only real wasted money is the $100Million non-refundable “buy-in” we paid for the F-35 …. but hey… who cares about how the governemnt wastes our tax dollars right?
anyways, somewhere along the way, Batman got snagged by a Hercules (with cables while carrying a bad guy). didn’t the military tried that before??
Um… Tried??? MC-130 Combat Talon carries the system.. known as the fulton recovery gear. It was used operationally for many years to recover personal from the ground… and still being used on the odd occasions today as late as 2001 in Afghanistan…
Has been around as far back as the 1950s…..
Who is this video directed to??
Talk about a great load of garbage. The narrator implies that the growing number of advanced SAM systems is a direct threat to the USA?????
Is he implying that countries can’t defend themselves??
And they say communist style propaganda from the former USSR was dangerous!
The old water in the static system….. gets you everytime….
😀
wowee…. talk about over rotation… FCS software problem??? Almost looks like he recovered it until the wing tip hit the ground….
Im guessing the camera is a sercurity camera? (hence the “sector” writing in the picture)

“With a radar, the pilot can identify the target with more accuracy and also determine the range before it hits. Moreover, the present aircraft have already been fitted with laser-powered pods (LDPs) to drop bombs with accuracy,” said a source. This makes it among one of the best aircraft of its kind in the world, added the source
Having a radar and a pod makes it one of the best fighter in the world? OK I admit LCA is a great project, but come on!! Those guys surely need some Marketing 101!!
Are you guys able to read???
The quote says… BEST AIRCRAFT OF ITS KIND…
orko learn to read… no where did it say.. BEST FIGHTER IN THE WORLD
“looking closer at the 2007 picture of the SU-47, i notice that the internal weaponsbay under the landing gear is open. i had no idea that the SU-47 had an internal weapons bay, does anyone have any better pictures of this 😕 “
On closer look at the picture posted of the belly of the aircraft you can see the out line of possibly 4 doors? Though you can clearly see 2 doors in the middle of the belly and the faint outline of two more either side under the air intakes……
A lot of those photos of fighters armed “to the teeth” are taken for publicity reasons or display a range of weapons at airshows/ open days etc….
400knot stall speed???
um… yea……. just wondering who makes the tyres that can withstand nearly 700km/h landing speed? and which runway has a 5km over-run area just incase…..
For starters we dont know if there is an airport nearby…..
It looks like a simple formation break with everyone following the leader…
Trucks on a road??? Lightening??? You guys for real or what??
It is night time as well and you cant tell how far away though mountains in the back ground are….. quite simply if we knew there was an airport there it would easily be explained….
Where did you get the info that the Penguin missile has also been cancelled? My understanding is that it is now likely to be fitted to the RAN’s existing Seahawks.
Tas
The government media report i read stated that the penguin was also scrapped….. The seasprite took how long to intigrate the penguin? how many years was it unable to fire one?
Now your saying you heard they will try and intigrate it with the seahwak? hmmmm
well i’ll go do a search when im back at work on monday if time allows…
So because theres no “other story” to back it up…. it must be false?
Many yrs ago my boss went to Singapore to follow up a prospective client who wanted to bring plenty of work our way. The work involved repairs and rebuilding aircraft which had been bought by the insurance company and then sold on to a 3rd party.
My boss explained to me on his return the high amounts of corruption and bribery this particualar aviation venture (which he ended up refusing to sign any deal with them). The whole thing sounded like a scam.
He witnesses bribery of many people and offcials too when he crossed the border into Malaysia. All of which made him most nervous. He was actually told to put $50US into his passport at the checkpoint in order to speed things up.
This story about being intercepted because they refused to bribe people doesnt surprise me one little bit.
It is quite common in these places… moreso then in our “western” culture…
I fly in new 172Rs and they run on gyros so would be unaaffected by AESA
Certain models come equipped with those loverly Garmin moving map displays these days etc….
My flight instructor once told me a story…
According to him, he was flying a Cessna prop (172, probably) somewhere in the US southwest, and had all of his instrumentation go suddenly haywire mid-flight. Now, he CLAIMED that even his magnetic compass went nuts on him. He then said he saw an F-22 some distance away from his plane, flying away.
Take it with a grain of salt. I have no idea whether he’s telling the truth, but I’ve known him for a while and he’s a respectable person. Maybe he was lying, or exaggerating. Still, if it’s true, it’s quite a story to tell.
Er well good story….. and unless he was flying an aircraft with EFIS…. highly unlikely…. instruments in a cessna (unless its a new cessna) are analog. Only affected by temp, pressure, moisture and how old they are…..
Thanks for the info guys…
However just today the US Navy used a “modified SM-3” missile to destroy “rouge” satellite. The reasoning behind the missile shoot is the lamest i have heard, using an ABM against a satellite because of “hydrazine” fuel crashing on poor joe citizens house sounds like an excuse if ever there was on to test the missiles capabilities?
HONOLULU, Hawaii (AFP) – A US Navy cruiser hit a defunct US spy satellite with a single missile late Wednesday in a successful interception 133 nautical miles in space over the Pacific, the US Defense Department said.
A network of radars and satellites designed for the US missile defense system confirmed that the interception occurred at approximately 10:26 pm eastern standard time (0326 GMT Thursday).
US Defense Secretary Robert Gates was informed in a conference call with senior military officials “that the mission was a success, that the missile had intercepted the decaying satellite,” Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell said.
“The secretary was obviously very pleased to learn that, and he congratulated General (James) Cartwright and General (Kevin) Chilton as well as their teams on a job well done,” he said.
A senior Pentagon official later said the missile appeared to have struck a tank on the satellite containing a hazardous fuel, hydrazine, that the Pentagon said could threaten humans if the tank survived re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere.
“All indications are that the mission was a complete success. The missile appears to have destroyed the fuel tank. We will need some time to confirm the extent of destruction, but it looks good,” the official said.
Gates had given the generals the go-ahead for the shoot down several hours earlier as he flew from Washington to Honolulu, a base for the three Aegis warships involved in the intercept attempt.
Morrell said Cartwright, the vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Chilton, the head of the US Strategic Command, told Gates “the conditions were ripe for an attempt.”
Seas were initially believed to be too rough but they calmed down later in the day as a six hour window opened for the attempt.
The USS Lake Erie, a guided missile cruiser, fired a single modified tactical SM-3 missile, “hitting the satellite approximately 247 kilometers (133 nautical miles) over the Pacific Ocean as it traveled in space at more than 7,000 miles (11,265 kilometers) per hour,” the Pentagon said.
