Lets get more sentimenal….
Date and aircraft number can be seen on the photo….

The Spark i have only ever seen two hardpoints fitted…. at least in any pictures i have ever seen…..
That was the only pic i could find with an Aim-9L ! All the rest had Aim-9Ps…… but for some reason im sure i have seen the L version on side launchers on an aussie pig.
I’ll keep looking i guess…
Ahh the poor old kiwi scooter

Sure its not photoshopped???
One other disadvantage is the poor ******* who has to mask it all up ! lol
Painting the radome may also present a problem too
Oh i dunno about that… lol
The Aim-9P front fins are only slightly shorter then the Aim-9L
Aim-9L
Aim-9P
Mines bigger then yours…er… um.. i mean…. size comparison between an
F-111, F-18 and Hawk….

Ok i’ll try digging out some sidewinder pics on aussie 111s…. when im at work.
I know on USAF models they were carried on side launchers.. Aim-9P/L and im sure i have seen photos of aussie one with side launchers…. though to be honest they were probably Aim-9Bs
Well, the Sidewinder blocks the space where the fins of the Sparrow should be. Unless they would want to launch a Sparrow with 3 fins only, its no practical load.
Nice F-111 bics btw. Do Australian F-111 have to carry the Sidewinders on the main pylons? No extra missile rails like in this pic?
Ok yea im with you now…. it may have just been for show as was said before. I really doubt that many weapons were cleared for use on the aussie F-4…
As for the F-111 launchrail, yes they have side launchers…. but do you think i can find any photos ?!?!?!?
Hey i thought they had gone with the Harms on the 111 ?? Does this mean i have to take them of my old model ??

Some pictures of the white whale with various loads….

I dont think so because I cant see the Sparrows fins.
I guess this is just an air show loadout.
But the pics are cool 😉
Sparrow fins where ??
Aussie F-4s were never seen with Sparrows in their recesses, let alone Aim-9s. So yea it is a rather odd picture to say the least. Though when you read the writing on the Sparrow it is probably a dummy.
The only pictures of any weapons on the F-4 that i have seen were tripple loads of Mk-82s on the inboard pylons and the SUU training pod.
So if anyone has pictures of RAAF F-4s with anything else please post it….

Lets get nostalgic ???
How about some Phabulous Phantoms in aussie service….
Rarely seen picture (least i havent come across any others) of a RAAF F-4 armed with Sparrows and Sidewinders….

And some Phantoms about to be bounced by some Macchis

Ahhh the good ole days
Anti-collision light…. Not that it actually stops a collision! lol
Good way to reach out and do some repairs maybe ?
😀
A few more…
Not a Hornet :p but don’t ya just love it ??? Must of been a great view…
Finally got my photobucket account….

Hi there Dan,
It might be my web host.
One of these days im going to get a proper picture hosting site instead of using yahoo.
Yahoo blocks my images/web page if it is viewed too often.
Looks like tomorrow night i better get a photobucket account!
