Its funny how the minute theRD-93 story surfaces you hear about the IAF being interested in the MiG-29M2/M, how the politics will play is somehting that is left to those politicians. But the thing is that I am hearing about the FC-1 being produced from next year but did I miss some news lately, avionics and radar contracts, SD-10 tests on the prototypes?
    Engine deal confirmed?
    Flying hours of the prototype?
    Flight envelope, weapons testing etc?

Instead of the flaming around here, can we actually learn something new, getting tired of PLA pretending to be a nice guy and a bunch of kids pretending to be from somewhere else.

Guys please stop acting like PLA, so PAC is ready to produce the FC-1 by next year, how far along has the testing gone, how many Gs can the FC-1 now pull, have avionics tests been conducted, contracts been signed? Weapons testing been conducted, has the SD-10 been tested with it?
    So many questions!
Also wonder on the production run, how many acs per year will PAC produce?

What dominance of the Akash is the journalist talking about?
    Akash is a different missile!
Akash has not sen service to dominate!
And even if it were, how would this ANZA, a different missile in a different league, more in tune with a longer IR missile system be compared to the radar guided Akash?
Sometimes I really wonder about South Asian journalism on defence, I think that the journo was trying to put India in there and figured that he would talk about an Indian SAM, the Akash!

I did not even know that the Anza had beaten the Akash in competition recently 😀

If Pakistan were to produce about 150 FC-1s, it would be interesting to see if the russians would let them have any sort of tech transfer

Getting personal is only thing for our Indian friend. So how far is the Indian Kaveri? And why is there in the indeginous LCA the very famous US engine? Did that hurt that much that you start pointing towards FC1? DO I have to prove inferiority complex? I don’t think so. The subject is Indian jets… Do we need to change that over and over again. That sounds as childisch as giving every Chinese or Pakistani subject negative ratings… As if Europeans are intrested in the ratings.

    😀

Dear Mr PLA, oh great preacher of inferiority complexes, please I beg for your forgiveness beforehand but I’d just like to point out one simple detail to you oh great one,the subject i not about Indian jets, please see the thread title for details. Who said inferiority complex again 😀 , first cricket threads on aviation forums and now he makes a Pakistani thread talk about Indian jets, and then we hear about inferiority complex.

Limited series production of the LCA is scheduled to start end of2006, full produciton by 2008 and squadron service by 2009 or end of 2008 if you wish to be optimistic as stated by Dr Atre on numerous occasions, this has not changed and I would advise certain members to read up before opening their mouths.

MiG-21s have been serving the IAF since the 65 war, those have long been scrapped but other MiG-21s still live on, The PV-2 of the LCA should be taking off by year end, I believe that the limited series production of the LCA in 2006 should make up the hours required for certification.

I thought that India had 200 MiG-21Bis, if 150 were to go for the Bison upgrade, that would leave 50!
But those MiGs need to be phased out now, although the BIS is a relatively new airframe of Fishbed, its still a Mig-21.

Wasn’t the price 33.5M dollars because of the numbers ordered?

    Bulk is always cheap

30M per ac is nt a bad deal considering how much a Blk 60 F-16 costs these days.

What Indian dominance of the Akash is he talking about?
    The missiles are different!
I thought that he would have said, this would help in the balance of air power in the region blablabla

Armed UAVs are the wave of the future, a small 20,000T carrier should suffice for China, such a carrier would carry 3x the amount it would if it were carrying conventional acs. I wonder if China is working on unmaned UAVs. Probably the cheapest way for China to get some air cover for its fleet.

maybe a potent enough force to make sure the French do not get involved in that neighbourhood

    Sauron

then by all means, let the US stop giving contracts to American companies and let other countries who have a comparative advantage win those contracts. me thinks that the Chinese for example would offer a cheaper price to rebuild all those power plants, rebuild all those pipes etc…

The Chinese have done the same in Iran!
India too was very active in business deals in Iraq pre war and had many contracts.
