Pakistani Air Force F-16s shot down a number of aircraft that had violated Pakistan’s airspace during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan during the mid-1980S following the 1979 Soviet invasion. These victories included a Sukhoi Su-22 confirmed as shot down by a 9 Squadron F-16 on May 17, 1986, plus a second probable kill. No.14 Squadron, based at Kamra, also claimed some kills, which included one Su-22 and a Mikoyan MiG- 23 on April 22, 1987. On August 4, 1988, a 14 Squadron F-16A shot down a Sukhoi Su-25 Frogfoot when the Soviet aircraft violated Pakistan airspace. Pakistan is also reported to have suffered four F-16 losses in aerial combat, a single aircraft to a Soviet MiG-23MLD on September 12, 1988, and three aircraft to Indian Air Force Mirage 2000s and a MiG-29 during May 1999.”

It does not matter if the article is BS or not, what matters is if people like Bush are believing in it, these lobbys are quite powerful in the US and influence policy, as far as KSA nuclear transfers, well no offence but Pakistan has been accused of doing the same to Libya, NK etc so I think that I wil believe the article and not the Pak Gov this time. However the article sensionalizes the story too uch, there may be a sort of secret deal btw KSA and PAk but this article seems to be multiplying it by ten.

Speaking of Russian perspective, here is one, as per AFM, I posted it on the 3 F-16s of PAf shot down thread, it mentions a MiG-23 shooting down an F-16 in 1988, looks like it got nasty up there sometimes.

Have the upgraded MiG-27s been equipped with LDPs and what kind of ECm are IAF strike acs equipped with?
I am thinking about that MiG-27 that got shot down in kargil, changes must have surely been made by now

Does that mean that the Saudis will send those F-15s ad AEW support to the PAF in case of war.

Also might I suggest to the Saudis to start buying French, Chinese ad/or russian equipment from now on.
