I believe that half their airforce was wiped out a couple of years ago by Tamil Tigers on the ground, so much for security.

Because it is important to be realistic and not nationalistic, this is an F-18 cockpit, that there is no doubt about.

Helicoptors are much more fragile than tanks and especially ships and reaction times vs a manpad is quite limited and Saleem maybe your grasp of English needs to be improved, when did I even mention India, read Subcontinent aka South Asia.
And many will argue than the days of the tanks are numbered but I will personally place bets on a tank rather than a fragile heli that is hovering slowly around the battlefield. At least tanks tend to have other tanks and soldiers around them, helis will be nice mince meat for manpads.

Comical, I do not think so

Pakistan is not the US, it does and will not have air superiority, transport helos while being limited in numbers only work well when you have air superiority, hence the US comparison is mute, no other country can contemplate such a one sided affair. As far as attack heloes, just have a look at the manpad inventory of the subcontinent and you will quickly understand what I mean, no wonder the Apaches remained grounded in Kosovo, technical problems my foot, as far as Iraq, look at the Apache losses, a damn farmer shot it down, many came back heavily damaged against a an undertrained underequipped enemy, now give these enemies some decent manpads and AA and things would have been quite different. The subcontinent will have the densest air defence especially when it comes to manpads, AA guns etc, maybe only in Kashmir where a heli can run away behind a mountain fast but anywhere else, forget about it. See the Chechen video and you will understand, a supersonic missile vs an attack heli, lol, good damn luck.

If they want to have a more effective armed forces, they should invest in the PN by doubling their sub force and buy some 4.5 gen fighters, not helicoptrs, helicoptors do not belong in this modern day battlefield anymore, they are just too slow and are a waste of money, if an Iraqi farmer can bring down an Apache, imagine people with manpads, see the recent heli shoot down video by Chechens on the forum for details.

The MCA will come by 2015+ I hope, in the meantime the Tejas is continuing its testing, I read that it can now sustain G turns of 4.5Gs and -1G, also read about a Kaveri being tested on a Su-30K which sounds crazy to me since the Kaveri should be too small and is a rd-xx sized engine, well apporx.
The MCA will need some advanced FBW with the projected design, I dont know if it has vertical stabilizers?

How effective is it to install fuel tanks on top of the wings, aka how much of a RCS reduction is this compared to a plane which does not have it say a JSF design.

Agreed, let the Kaveri be mastered first before we hear talk of thrust vectored versions of it

Funny thing will be to actually see the new Iraqi armed forces, Shias, Sunnis and Kurds hate each other, the yanks should have never disbanded the old army, they should have never destroyed the Baath party, hence the nasty mess, then again, when you have great brains like Rumsfeld and George W in power…..

Besides does anybody know what happened to Iraqi pilots, did they get rehired?

True enough, Iraq has a majority Shia population, links to Iran will run strong, maybe second hand F-16s will be given for free when the JSF and F-22 enter service in the USAF.

“and your ilk sit around and try to figure out how to bomb and kill innocents on trains or in offices!!! please give me, and the rest of the world a break!!!”

    😀

America is a great country, I agree, I like visiting it, but no offence but certain people like you TTP need some reeducation when it comes to the world

    Vympel is Russian
    I am Indian

I dont want to embarass your country which I like btw a bit more so I’ll let it go even though it is quite funny.

I think that you are accusing the wrong ilk which is sad enough as it is since you told both of us to get history books 😀
In any event not only are you ignorant, I detect a little bit of anti arab feelings there, which scares me, first you guys decide on the airforce and are the occupiers and you preach about how great America is and you talk about ilk, yuck, I am scared of you already.

Who the ehck are you referring to?

Hmm maybe you should check your history books and get yourself a world atlas, none of us are Iraquis or even Arabs, enough with your America is always right and has done everything for the world balblablabla, we are not even talking about that, I can also point out to great American deeds such as the Contras, supporting Suharto, supporting Arab dictators, generals, I can go on and on, leave the Holywood bs for your teenagers. All countries fight for their interests, plain and simple, I dont see what terrorism ahs to do with anything here, please enlighten us oh great one. I’m sure what America has done to the world must mean that they have the right to dcecide for the Iraquis what kind of airforce they should have before any Iraqui has a say in it, give me a break, its sad to see people who think like you, to think that the USA has one of the best democratic ceonstitutions in the world, ahh the great George W.

Hmm excuse me here but the Iraqi elections are in January for a permanent Gov, didn’t the US “promise” full sovereignty, as per my knowledge there has been no formal plans announced by any Iraqi canditate when it comes to the millitary, how nice of the US to decide for the Iraqis already.

The IAF is actually intending to increase the number of squadrons, it also needs to retire certain strike acs such as the MiG-23s and hence the Mirages come in the picture, the IAF MiG-29s will not serve beyound 2015-18 me thinks. The IAF will eventually operate a su-30/LCA/Mirage/Pak-FA or MCA mix with the MiG-27s retiring by 2020 I think.
