I ment that we would reallocate funds to the NAVY and AIR FORCE, meaning, the army woud become more of a hi tech defensive force, besides the Navy needs more money, we need to patrol the sas to secure the shipping lanes, this helps our economy, pretty obvious if you ask me!

I also never understood why the PAF did not go for the J-10 instead. Sure it costs about 30M but it offers some nice capability and could definitely compete with the best that India has, with the inferior FC-1, India will always have the advantage. In stead of spendingall that cash on the FC-1, they shoulod have at least invested ina produciton line of J-10s just for Pakistan. Unless of course the Chinese were unwilling to let their birds go to a country that has many an American hunting for Osama, well these Americans could suddenly have a look at China’s weapon of the future, the J-10.

As for the Cobra, phantom, isn’t it reasonable to assume that the reason why te Cobra is still so widely used is simply due to economics and expensive alternatives and the fact that most armed forces bar the US have seen their defence budget go down!

The MIG-21 is still widely used everywhere, but it is an obsolete ac when faced with modern day air defence systems. I cannnot imagine the Cobra vs the Tongustas and the new gen Russian MANPADS.

As for the Cobras, I wish the luck, those MANPADS and Tungustas will love hearing from them, the Indian army probably has one of the densest air defence network in the world!
Besides if an RPG 7 can bring down a US apache, well….
