Well it was cheaper than the Mars lander of NASA that made it a few years ago. Remember that NASA then cut costs and their second cheaper lander failed miserably. Did the Beagle 2 use the same landing technology that the successful NASA Mars lander used? If somehting works, might as well follow the formula!

Mars is a tough and unforgiving place, I don’t think that it was due to Brit incompetence but more likely due to Mars and cheap landers don’t get along well.

Engines are a tough thing to master, recent news reports have only given us a sense of optimism, even the J-10 is still being powered by a Russian engine, it takes time to master but its worth it. I hope that they have a backup engine this time that is European or Russian, much easier to get the engines than from Uncle Sam.

I’m a bit confused, the Medium Combat Aircraft will be in the same weight class as the Su-30?
That does not make it very Medium!
and where is the mention of stealth features?
We already have a big boy around the block, unless the MCA is stealthy, hmm
and btw where does that leave the PAK-FA

Will the IAF be composed of MCA, LCA and PAK-FA in the future?

I wonder if this means that the Mirage deal is far off now.

PLA and company please keep your highly technical knowledge for the FC-1 thread
I doubt that this Lakshaya would become a cruise missile, the rumour is for the Bhramos to become a land attack cruise missile in the future, that looks more realistic.

For one thing, the warhead will have to be increased and also our other problem will be the lack of GPS, I do not know how reliable the Russian one will be.

    AH the irony

If one were to visit Pakdef last month during a brief moment of boredom, one would find posts about India exporting missile and nuclear tech to Iran, my my, the CIA, European intelligence agencies, etc etc, basically the world!, seems to disagree, they think that its Pakistan!
anyway go talk to the bbc, and the Pak Gov who accepted that its scientists were involved, go talk to Musharaff, although you might have a few problems getting through to the poor guy these days, see the bbc for details.

Can we stop being off topic
and to the loser who mentioned my name and my family’s link to RAW, I’m flattered lad but it was not me sir, it was Saleem Hatoum, the greatest one of them all, even h177 could not come close. Go ask him about F-22s, oh and h177 believed that the FC_1 could outmanouver the F-22 easily but that is a different story.
Please see you fact book, something called Encarta, it mentions India having the second highest muslim pop in the world, I understand that in Pakistan you guys are led to believe that the evil Hindu and Yahudi axis are busy killing all muslims and therefore, there can’t be any muslims left in India, but sorry facts appear to be different

Pakistan does not have much money for defence compared to India, they will eventually get BVRs but India will buy better ones and longer ranged ones, in fact I want Pakistan to get those missiles, nothing better to make our slow Indian bureaucracy speed up the arms buying process.
Pakistan having BVR missiles right now is speculation, I understand that your air force has a lack of good news, no new equipment for years etc etc but that does not mean that forum bandwith can be spent talking about speculation.
India getting Phalcons is not speculations
    Su-30MKI is not a speculation
Both the Russians and Indians dont deny that the Gorshkov deal exists and that the signing will happen soon.

Well lets just assume, so that we can move on a bit here, that somehow the Israelis are able to make their way towards Iran, let us look at the Iranian EW capablilities, its fighters and missiles and training, that should be more interesting that who should have nukes or not and who supports Israel.

Let us not forget that a couple of months ago, Israeli fighters overflew Damascus and blew up a “terrorist camp”, so much for Syrian Air Defence and EW, how would Iran fare?

And the tradition of having threads based purely on speculations continues. Funnily enough its always about the PAF. The PAF probably does not have BVR missiles now and it will take them some time to get it and intergrate it and of course be trained in using it! There should be no doubt that the PAF will eventually get BVRs, I mean come on, it is the 21st century isn’t it?
The only problem will be that with AWACs support, more money to buy longer range missiles etc, the IAF will still be a superior foe unless you believe those Pakdef members who believe that an F-7 can shoot down the Su-30 simply because it is being flown by an Indian pilot. Money will win any war and sorry but India has much more of that.
Looking forward to the future PaF getting rafales, MIrage 2000s, F-22s threads

There is no reason why this should be a flame war thread, simply post news and articles about the PAF in here, the Indian and Chinese threads are working quite well sostop complaining.
