Heading for the Essex Aviation Group Museum at Duxford, pop in and see it, without a clock, when you come for Flying Legends.

I believe both have since joined the recent exodus of aircraft from Precision

I was at Wangaratta on Friday and touched them both! Follow TFC Newsletters not the rumours.

Look forward to reading the article. Long time ago when a few of the early crowd occupied the old IWM shop next to hangar three, Stephen came in one day and gave me a cut away drawing out of Flight Magazine which I pinned on the office wall. He had written on it, “Dream Machine”. Some time later the dream came true and we picked up N5903.

Not the first flight at Vergiate, possibly the first “official flight”. Younger versions of Franco Actis, Paul Mercer and yours truly also noted. Thanks for posting.

Haddon Cave identified the cause as a failure of a fuel line. Underlying causes were using old technology seals, AVIMO’s, as used in Spitfire, Hurricane etc. This was exacerbated by a design change which had not been picked up. As the original material used in the AVIMO’c was carcinogenic the manufacturer changed the material without notification and testing whether it was suitable for use with jet fuels. The production then passed to another manufacturer who again did not pick up the design change.

    84th Bill, 1956 -1959.
The Beaufighter classroom was located on the track where you “trogged” in at the back of the airfield, the first thing you saw on the right hand side. The Canberra and Comet shot must have been taken in 1959 during the final airfield phase. John Cunningham flew the Comet in.

The boost gauge dial was given to me by Tim Moore of Skysport who purchased the remains of the classroom which I believe are now in Australia.

From previous posts sounds like we all “skived” down to the airfield. Pictures taken 1956 – 1959.

A couple more Buckmaster shots plus a boost gauge dial from the cockpit classroom. The engines/propellers were changed on the classroom pre 1956.

I’m sure I speak for everybody when I say I cannot wait to see a gladiator and cr42 formation.

Help make it happen guys! Put out the word to your friends in Europe. Spain, Sweden, Hungary, Germany, Africa, Iraq and of course Italy, all were touched by the “Falco”. In some dark and dinghy shed there might be the spares we need.

The pace is hotting up make it happen!
