Battle Of Britain 16th October 1940 Heinkel He 111H-5 IT+JK Nr. 3510 of 2/KGr.126
Collided with barrage balloons and crashed Shotley Suffolk
This aircraft hit a balloon cable and crashed on the foreshore at Shotley, Suffolk during mine laying operation. Two unexploded mines were found in the crashed aircraft and taken away at the time.
Oblt W.Stender, Fw Guenther, Uffz Martin and Oberg Irrgang were killed in the crash.

Display of some of the items recovered in EAG Museum at Duxford, visit this weekend, located behind History of Duxford Display.

If you want a good read about the Beaufighter try;- “Beaufighters in the Pacific” by N M Parnell. First published in 1980 as, “Whispering Death”, this is much revised version published in 2005. Covers operations by Australian crews of No. 30 and No. 31 Sqdn, and 77 Wing, 1942 to 1945.
Guns, bombs, rockets and napalm.

Whilst visiting the tower museum at my old base Bassingbourn I was parked by this fence waiting for an escort, I wondered what it was about, now I know.

Lancaster ejector exhaust. These can and do fail at the weld and fall off in flight.

Hit balloon cable site 4, 916 Squadron, wrecked, bombs exploded. 2 killed, 2 POW. Also a statement that bombs were jettisoned over Coventry.

The Halifax explosion was the largest in the First World War, it flattened two square kilometres of Halifax and 1600 people died.
Amongst them was my ancestor Leading Seamen Claude Eggleton Rushen, crew member of HMS “Highflyer” who was aboard a whaler which went to assist. When the whaler was 100 yards away the Mount Blanc blew up, all crew were lost apart from Able Seaman Becker who subsequently was awarded the Albert Medal.

Before paying for a copy of AP 1374 identify the magneto type and what you want to do to it.
If you want to overhaul a magneto circa wartime period you will need Volume II Part 3 Instructions for Overhaul. Remember Air Publications evolved over time with AL’s. (Amendment Lists) Pages were inserted and removed depending on the equipment current at the time.
If you post what BTH magneto you are interested in I will check my copy of the Vol. II to see if it is listed.

A little more from Intelligence Report.

3+-, upper surface of wing marked T+PF, disintegrated, wreckage over a large area, engine carried on for at least half a mile from main wreckage.

Hi Pete the reason for my asking the question is as a previous thread i had entered,is that i have come across a relic FW190 Grip,that when purchased it had a label on it that read.
