Collided with barrage balloons and crashed Shotley Suffolk
This aircraft hit a balloon cable and crashed on the foreshore at Shotley, Suffolk during mine laying operation. Two unexploded mines were found in the crashed aircraft and taken away at the time.
Oblt W.Stender, Fw Guenther, Uffz Martin and Oberg Irrgang were killed in the crash.

The Halifax explosion was the largest in the First World War, it flattened two square kilometres of Halifax and 1600 people died.
Amongst them was my ancestor Leading Seamen Claude Eggleton Rushen, crew member of HMS “Highflyer” who was aboard a whaler which went to assist. When the whaler was 100 yards away the Mount Blanc blew up, all crew were lost apart from Able Seaman Becker who subsequently was awarded the Albert Medal.

If you want to overhaul a magneto circa wartime period you will need Volume II Part 3 Instructions for Overhaul. Remember Air Publications evolved over time with AL’s. (Amendment Lists) Pages were inserted and removed depending on the equipment current at the time.
