We all saw how busy the flightline was, anything that assists the pilots and avoids a potential ground crew injury is just fine by me – who cares if it upsets the photographer!
TT
Texantomcat you have it exactly. The flightline at Legends is a very busy noisy place with many dangers. Even with eyes in the back of your head things can go wrong very easily and quickly. High viz helps reduce the potential for an accident, now you have more eyes looking. With over twenty years working at TFC my biggest nightmare is somebody getting caught by a propeller. It does happen.
The other dangers! Some years ago I was walking out to do a ground run on a VC10 when I had a near miss with a 32 seater coach, the two guys I was walking with were not so lucky, one ended up with brain damage. If we had been wearing high viz I am sure the accident would not have happened.
Sorry guys that I didn’t get the Sea Fury id quite right!
Just trying to sort out Permit to Fly for the P-39, Permit to Test for the P-40, radio annual and survey, radiator removal and refit on the P-51D, aileron cables to remake on the Staggerwing, mag drop on the Mk. XIV, fly the SpitV, Corsair, Bearcat etc etc for DA renewals for the weekend. Rebuild a Gladiator, Beafighter and a Spitfire 18. Think about shipping a Merlin to the USA for overhaul and another to Italy, bring back shipping stands from the US so we can ship a P-51 Stateside for the Gathering of Mustangs, and thats just before breakfast!
Have to go Miss Velma has just arrived!
Hawk 75 and P-39 hot to trot! Will do our best to get the P-40 through the hoop!
To many to recount, V-1’s & V-2’s, Fw-190’s maybe. See my “brats” story at http://mywebpage.netscape.com/rushenfamily/brat/Brat.htm

Beaufighter IV, I am not having “a go” and indeed I know you well and respect your work but I dont think comments of this order do anyone any favours. Mark 12’s comments were spot on. Andy Saunders
Andy read again, not my comments, straight from the Daily Telegraph.
Did I add anything extra?

Digby,
Now I know what you do when I’m out of town.
Interesting article in theDaily Telegraph of 20 April.
Quote, Mr Black said, ” I felt immensely proud seeing it being wheeled out at Duxford today. You couldn’t wipe the smile from my face”.
“D5649 the plane he restored and sold to IWM for nearly 1 million pounds.”
Reg was a great guy, knew him for close on fifty years. Attached is a picture taken at Upwood circa 1955, Reg, CO of Basildon ATC Squadon, far right. Me, pimply youth, far left centre row.
18 September 1940.
PC Clack of Southend Police writes in his report to the Chief Constable:-
“I went with the Police ambulance to the Pier Entrance to convey an injured German airman, Wade Muller to the New General Hospital where he was detained. Muller baled out from an enemy aircraft and his parachute failed to open and he landed in the sea.”
Paul Weidemuller was a crew member of a Ju 88, he confirmed the above detail.
The plates are all from a BTH magneto which appears to have been built under licence. The engine is a Merlin.
The only way to attract a bigger crowd is unfortunatly to grab the general public as going by the messages on this site most so called enthusiasts hate airshows unles they can park outside and watch it for free! Another reason for price increases!!

Be careful where you park! This is what happened to a Duxford airshow visitor who parked on the path next to my drive. True.
What is the story on the Hurricane Janie????????????????????????????????????
