Macchi MC72 and Macchi 205 “Veltro”.
Several of the instructional aircraft at Halton landed on the grass including the Comet 4 prototype in the hands of John Cunningham, circa 1959.
i love the way you’re all getting upset!….i can’t see anything on there saying it will alter anything to do with the airfield at duxford. talk about 2 +2 = 5 and jumping to conclusions!
The conditions of a Permit to Fly. “The aircraft shall not be flown over any assembly of persons or any congested area of a city, town or settlement, except to the extent necessary in order to take off and land …..”
I think the MSA falls into the congested category. We can take off and land but no display flying!
This is also backed up by a statement from our County Coucillors. “Because the MSA would be officially classified as a “congested area” it would become almost impossible to run air shows.”
Maybe the planners should be reminded that a Yak 11, Me 109 and one engine and pitch change unit from the P-38 ended up exactly where they propose serving tea.
Work has already started on “Little Demon” with the removal of the undercarriage doors in preparation for removal of the undercarriage. If work goes to plan we hope to start assembly of the aircraft next May even though major structural work is required to remove the second seat and put the aircraft back to its original configuration.
“No Guts No Glory” is boxed and will leave TFC tomorrow, Friday.
I will endeavour to keep you all informed of progress on the work at TFC through our web site, but please be aware the aircraft come first. (This is my half day off.)
Can we have a re-run of an airshow that Johnnie Johnson organised at Copenhagen airport in July 1945. A small number of Blohm & Voss BV138C aircraft were pulled out at Oresund, outside Copenhagen airport, and attacked by Typhoons, Tempests, Mosquitos and Spitfires armed with cannons and rockets. Now that really was an airshow.
The remains of one of the BV138C is an exhibit at the Danish Aviation Museum.
Let your fantasy roll. What would your target be?
The Volunteers of yesteryear! Seven still with us.
I’m in my slippers now!
Is that “Baldrick” in “Grumpy” ?
So was Harold!
As a follow up, is there anybody out there with a CAA Licence, A & C, with big piston experience, who would like to join the gang at TFC. PM me please.
We have a Griffon to rebuild, Merlin blocks to overhaul, Merlin to strip down, come and have fun! Radials next.
the detached canopy on the Mk.XIV Spit. Was the original refitted or a replacement?
Brain fell out, how could I miss the superb effort by Dave in putting together a new canopy and thank Craig for the new perspex.
Also forgot Peter and James who had the oil cooler out of the Hellcat, no mean task, flushed and tested by Anglia Radiators and back in.
Friends of TFC enter Flight Line Walk Free!

Whilst at Duxford looking at the RE-8, his Bristol Fighter, and the Lancaster, Peter Jackson confirmed the making of DB with six mockup Lancasters, a Mosquito and a Wellington. That was a face to face statement. He then went off to visit Barnes Wallace’s house.
For somebody who collects Richthofen memorabilia including flying badge, victory flasks etc, & who is very knowledgeble, albeit about WW1, I think the remake is in the best hands around.
Have you seen what he is doing in NZ. Take a look at his collection at Omaka, and that is only one site. He is also departing from the welded tube replica WW1 a/c to originality, that was the reason for looking at the RE-8, one of which is in the process of build.
Omaka has one huge new hangar, apparently more to follow, rumour has it four to house a collection.
