Just finished watching the new Amiens raid documentary. Some good footage and a first-hand account of the mission from Max Sparks.
Quite a bit about Pickard and Broadley but a shame there was no mention (in name) of Richard Sampson.
Even Dr Ducellier makes an appearance near the end of the programme to give us his version of events. I won’t spoil it if you didn’t catch the programme ;)(on again Tues 4th Oct at 8.00am on Yesterday channel, 9.00 on +1, check their website for further repeats –

Playwright Terence Rattigan served in Coastal Command as a W/Op-AG flying Catalinas and Sunderlands from Scotland and Northern Ireland.
He wrote Flare Path and The Way To The Stars.

Sad news indeed.Had the pleasure of meeting him at Duxford a few years ago,he was only too pleased to chat and sign a Spitfire photo for me.
Another true hero gone.
Nothin to do with Poling I’m afraid, but still interesting…

I assumed ‘Integral’ was based in Witney after seeing this post on the ‘WW2 People’s War’ website …..

Maybe there was more than one factory?
Yes,they can be very frustrating to build…they have very fine tolerances, just a couple of thou out can make them tighten up.
The only info I have found so far is from loudspeaker manufacturers Celestion’s website who mention a rival company ‘British Rola’
……….another loudspeaker manufacturer was making similar product. This was the British Rola Company, an offshoot of the Rola Company of Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A., which began in 1934 at Minerva Road, Park Royal, London NW10.…………….
British Rola Limited was registered during 1938 as electrical and general engineers, toolmakers and stampers, and when World War Two broke out they opened up a dispersal factory at Bideford in Devon, in the former garage of Messrs Elliot and Sons. Production for the war effort grew apace with the manufacture of the R.A.F. B3 Vacuum Pump, several thousands of which were produced. These were followed into production by the Rotol Airscrew Feathering Pump, four of which were fitted to all British multi-engined bombers. The final product was the Integral Hydraulic Pump BH Mark IV, and all these items contributed in no small measure to the Forcesβ need for reliable battle equipment.
