I’ll take a look tomorrow, I’m sure we must have somewhere. We certainly have aerial shots of the base during that time clearly showing 144 SU, though it’s all looking a total mess over on the former 144 site nowadays.
Flightsim.com will be your best bet, still loads of stuff for 95, and 98.
Nooooooooooooooo!
We want the Turkish guy 😀 😀 😀
Moggy
😀 yeah I remember him well, my how we laughed!! 😀
I’m pretty sure I was there… she wasn’t 😉
Biggin Hill, maybe?
Yep you’re right, just checked the video back. My mistake, it was actually BM597 disguised as a rough looking BoB Spit! 🙂
2000, to my certain knowledge, at one of the big Battle of Britain airshows, being flown by Jon Whalley.
Yes she flew at the BoB 60th anniversary show at Duxford in 2000. She is currently undergoing a major restoration job. There is a pic on our website sent to us by the current owner, though I’m sure the project is much more advanced now.
What we need on this thread is someone who knows about the Spitfire scene, who could tell us how many airworthy examples we presently have in the UK.
Though this is obviously in a frequent state of flux (hence this thread)
it feels like about low 20’s.The BBMF gets us off to a flying start with five…
Check the warbird directory on http://www.uk-warbirds.net there’s a run down of all airworthy spits currently in the UK. 🙂
Great lookiing website there. 😎
I don’t have Vista, and to be honest I’ve never been “scared” by moving on, but if everything works fine, why bother spending loads of money to keep up with the latest craze. I prefer to catch up later, that way all the bugs have been ironed out of the software. Vista still has many problems from what I’ve been reading, but so did XP upon it’s release and these were sorted out in time. I don’t “need” a new Operating System and will only get Vista when I get a new computer. I’ve never gone and bought a new OS for the sake of it, I have much better things to spend my money on.
Back to the thread in hand, like many people I’ve bought a lot of money’s worth of addons for FS9 many of which will not work on FSX, and I’m rather fond of them. The UK2000 Scenery team have recently released a statement saying many of their scenery products will not run properly on FSX and a complete rebuild would be the only way of rectifying the problem, a huge task that could take years to complete. I like flying from my local patch, and to lose that would take away a huge amount of the enjoyment for me.
As for water, there are plenty of freeware or payware addons that create stunning water effects for FS9, it’s also perfectly possible to have AI boats too, so there’s nothing new in that really.
It’s all down to what works for individual people, and for me I’m happy with what I’ve got. 🙂
Thanks for that, I thought it must have gone by now, it getting on for two years since I took that photo.
Shame we can’t seem to keep machines like this in the UK. 🙁
Hi Chris,
Ah so I assume it never took it’s first flight here then? Real shame, she looked a little stunner! 😎
Many people have already said that FS9 with all the addons available is just as good as FSX, and will run better. I download the FSX demo version, and to be honest I’ve certainly not been in any hurry to buy it!
Blue skies Alex, you were truly an inspiration to British aviation.
Stunning pictures Glen, thanks for posting them. 😎
Er yes that was probably very wise! 😀
Superb work Paul, I like that very much!
