Abingdon does have a growing air day again nowadays, next one on the 30th April. Last years event was very good from what I saw here, though it will hard pressed to beat the 100,000 figure like it did in 1990!

Here’s a link to some great pics. http://www.abingdonfayre.com/RAF/

Fantastic news! 😀 This is a truly awesome aeroplane, and will be great to see it in the air again. Well done to the peeps at HAA for all their hard work, it must have taken some serious persuading to get the CAA to agree to a Bucc!

I flew ‘652 from Cambridge, but I do remember the Nimrod AEW3, all looking very grubby in their PFX (I think it’s called PFX 😮 ) protective spray. Only saw them at the airshows they put on back in Abingdon’s RAF days. Think they all ended up under the cutters torch didn’t they?

You certainly reminded me of the parachute pack though, dare not stand up for fear of crushing ya knackers! 😮 😀

Fantastic stuff thanks for that paulO. Nice to see she’s still flying. 🙂

mjr, that’s a coincidence! Strange that, they must have shifted them around the AEF’s. I no longer have my log book so can’t refer to the exact dates, but it probably would’ve been 1985. Hope you found your way back to the correct airfield! 😀

Love those pics Anna, especially the USS Mahan, I think the Arleigh Burke class ships looks really nice. I really should get down to Portsmouth as I haven’t been down there since I was a kid of 14, and beleive me that’s a long time ago! 🙂

Nice website you have there, well done and very informative to those of us who know more about the aircraft than the ships themselves! 😉

For Snaps and myself this is indeed a sad day. We both knew the man personally, he even attended our evening reception at our wedding in 2001.

A great author has passed way, rest in peace Roger.

Dunno about the canopies, the biggest give away for me is the PC induced lack of swazis! 😀

Yep I watched it, and very good it was too. Shame so much of that great footage was left out of the film, still there should be much more to enjoy over the coming years!
