As I’ve said before, I’d much rather my ignorance tax go towards keeping old aeroplanes flying (or preserved) than to some black lesbian disabled vegetarian organic sandle sanctuary. Or opera.

    JC

Careful what you say, I’m disabled myself and am very much a supporter of the warbird movement. I would much rather the money went to good causes that help PEOPLE than chunks of metal. So I assume then that disabled veterans of all ages (many injured in Falklands, Bosnia, Iraq etc) would not get your support then?

    Minor Nitpick,

He started off as Episcopal, became Presbyterian later and then switched to Laura Bush’s denomination, the United Methodist Church.

Ok whatever, I got it wrong but I can admit when I’m wrong! πŸ˜€ So couldn’t he make his mind up which church to follow then?

Seems to me that some Western governments find OBL far too useful as a bogeyman-at-large to ever seriously track him down.

Ya took the words right outta my mouth GA! πŸ˜€ By having OBL on the run, (or is he?) it allows the foreign policy makers to steamroller any Muslim country they feel like by using the now very clichΓ©d “War on Terror” as an excuse.

I’ve been to the USA three times now, and find it amazing at just how little many of them truly understand anything about the world at large. Just because someone in a practicing Muslim, doesn’t mean they are a terror threat! Unlike the common US perception we are talking about a very small amount of hardliners that perpetrate acts such as 911, should they be left alone? Of course not, they should be hunted down like the vermin they are, but not at the cost of thousands of innocent lives!

Here’s a good example. Three American serviceman stationed in the UK gang rape a British teenager. Does this mean then that all Americans are rapists? Using the logic of the US administration, the British Prime Minister goes on TV telling the people of Britain that a terrible act has been perpetrated against our country, we must now invade the USA kill as many innocent civilians as we can, “just in case they are rapists”.
Anyone laughing at the absurdity of this scenario yet?

Iraq was side show to divert the US public away from the real issues, and being as gullible as they are, they swallowed it all like a tasty beverage! Yes OBL is still at large, will the USA haul him in? I doubt it as they would no longer have a reason to plunder small Muslim nations, let’s face it GWB is a card carrying bible bashing Baptist, he will seek any opportunity to have a go at a religion that he or his people don’t understand. This is as much about religon as terrorism and no one else in the world is fooled.

The painful thing for me is that I actually love the United States, it’s a great place, and people’s hospitality is second to none, so to see them brainwashed and lied to in this manner appals me.

Yes, like many I had an Atari ST but used it for creating music rather than gaming, taking advantage of the built in MIDI ports. When I look down at my nice compact, and powerful 17″ HP laptop, it does amaze me how far things have come over the past 15 years!

as for the IRA bombings of London well thats a whole different Cup of Tea

You are kidding right? 😑 I find it interesting to note that according to most Americans, unless the terrorist is a card carrying member of al-Qaida, then every other form of terrorism is perfectly acceptable?

Hey guess what buddy, while the UK was bending over backwards to help out the USA after 911, there were still misguided Americans funding the IRA’s murderous activities. Like you, they don’t seem to see the IRA as a terrorist group, it’s just an extension of the war of independance. Well not everyone in Northern Ireland wishes to be part of a Republic, around half if not more, wish to remain part of the Union but of course you knew that didn’t you.

I’m also sure that you know that the Good Friday agreement was a vote taken by the people of Northern Ireland, and they overwhelmingly voted for a end to the years of violence by the paramilitary groups. Have the fund raisers in the USA respected that? Have they hell!

If Northern Ireland means so much to these people why don’t they go and live there? If they did, they may even learn something!

Great shots! πŸ˜€ The Collings jet is an F-4D in the markings of Richard “Steve” Ritchie. I’d be interested to know who owns this one, looks superb! 😎

I’ve always taken it to mean any airworthy ex-military historic aircraft now in private ownership, which I believe is the generally accepted term. Of course in recent years there have been more jets, the RAF sold off loads of Hunters and JPs, and more recently the Gazelle helicopters. I agree with Corsair116b I still think it’s wise to catagorise between what many would describe as “pure” warbirds (piston engined), and jet warbirds which will see the ranks increase as older jets are pensioned off.
