I managed to stomach watching the programme last night , and it was everything I expected it to be. My issue with these people was not with them claiming benefits, but more with their general lack of life skills and a severe lack of articulation… I mean letting your 3 year old son hang out on the street with alcoholics and shouting at your partner “shut your *******ing face ya D*ck head” in front of your kids…. I mean really…. really? I did despair some what…

I think more focus should be made on their parenting skills (or lack off) rather than their benefit claims…. There is no hope for their kids, unless their kids grow up deciding they don’t wish to follow in their parents foot steps which one of them seemed to do judging by the previews for the next show… good for her!!!!

instead of making people do voluntary work … or however you want to word it, for their benefits, why not just turn those ‘voluntary’ positions into proper working positions and pay the claimant a wage… then they could come off benefits…. or is that too sensible?

Just a quick passing thought , are the families of the programme being paid by the television company to appear on it? Because of that’s the case then they won’t be able to claim while the filming is going on, if they’re not being paid, then I can’t see why on earth they’d want to televise their lifestyle

It always amazes me, while I’ve been living here in Wales, just how crazy the Welsh go for sports.

So I’m currently a blog about this topic for Newport City Radio’s website, about social stigma, the damaging effect of programs like benefit street, the views of different generations and employed VS unemployed etc, am I allowed to quote anything that’s been said here, or do I need to seek individual users permission?

Cheers guys, I made my brain hurt last night trying to research how much of the tax payers money goes on each individual benefit, I thinkkkkkkk, I worked it out at around 20% into the general benefit/pension pot, and around 1% each to Housing Benefit, JSA & Incapacity benefits. It was for a point I was making about people that give it the ol’ “All my taxes are paying for your benefits!”

Firstly, what’s wrong with tattoos? It’s just body art…

Secondly, I’ve always been one of the only people in my friendship groups that doesn’t smoke, (I remember how naughty I felt when I first tried it aged about 15?) and nearly every guy I’ve dated has been a smoker, I say I’m not a smoker… I’m not addicted to smoking, and have never spent money on it, but I do enjoy a cigarette with a glass of wine if I am having wine with a smoking friend and they offer one… I guess I’m a ‘social smoker’ Weirdly I kinda like the smell and taste… but I don’t ever crave it which is why I don’t spend money on it.

incidentally, no one in my family smokes, and I’ve always been raised anti-smoking, my mum gave up when she fell pregnant with my older brother, my Dad claims he’s never touched it, but his mother claims otherwise… haha

I will say, that yes, one should probably avoid smoking around children purely for health reasons (and around anyone that doesn’t like it other wise it’s kinda selfish.)

however, I don’t think children are as influenced by their parents as people think. At least I never was. Then again I’m some what of the Black sheep in the family ;]

I just read that on the debate, they are putting the snob Katie Hopkins up against ‘White Dee’ who features in Benefits street…. that’s going to get messy.

I’d quite like to put Justin Bieber in a box, nail it shut, and drop it over the middle of the Atlantic.
