This is something I’ve been trying to research , because I want to build a 1940 Southern Railway themed model railway with evacuees on the stations and aircraft and tanks on flat trucks and maybe a crashed German bomber or something, but trying to research any kind of writing or photos of the railways during the war has proven to be near impossible, unless I’m looking in the wrong places.

WHAT is that aircraft that looks like some sort of transformer that could just throw a punch at an enemy plane? I’m sure you know the one I mean, looks very experimental

I think the market’s wide open for a 1/48-scale Halifax.

The Tamiya 1/48 Lancaster has been a favourite for years but just think of a Hally to put alongside that. .

I could have Sworn Trumpeter made one…. or maybe I’m thinking of their Wellington? & yes, the Halifax & Lancaster next to each other would be fab! A 1/48 Blenheim (I’m sure there isn’t a 1/48 one out?) to go next to my Beaufighter & Mossie would be great too 😀

I miss building model planes, haven’t been able to afford to recently, especially since Hornby took over and prices seem to have shot up (don’t even get me started on hornby train prices these days), although I may get back in to it soon if the job front pics up, I REALLY want one of Tamiya’s 1/48 Lancasters but I just can’t justify spending £80 on moulded plastic… or even £50 on ebay haha, I hope Airfix release a wider range of 1/48 aircraft, a 1/48 Spitfire prototype would be great for my Spitfire collection (I attempted to do as many different variants as I could… a project I will return to one day)

I remain very gutted that I’m having to miss it this year 🙁 Very inconsiderate of Nana being born 80 years ago on that weekend. ;] I assume there is no Battle of Britain re-enactment this year judging by the lack of English & ‘German’ fighter presence compared with previous years? I remember a year with about 7 spitfires and 3 hurricanes… dang.

But yes, that line up looks pretty exciting 🙂 and in Reply to the comment about the Red Arrows, they did manage to do a fly past one year on the way down to Bournemouth =]

I’d reallyl ove to see that Tiger Moth display team, the weather was too wet for them last year =[

Actually, just seen a friend post on Facebook “wow a Tornado GR4 just flew right over the house” so that’s what it was aha, I keep hearing it in the distance… It must be circling somewhere…

10 minutes ago I saw (heard it first) a typhoon shaped jet heading North over Newport S. Wales, I say typhoon shaped because I don’t have the best eyesight ever aha could have been an F16 or something

I love that game! There seems to be a couple of concept aircraft which I assume never left the drawing board? Like the P51J Mustang with the forward swept wings?

RE: Shoreham – his flypast over the crowd was a result of getting out of position. In the post show wash-up meeting the Flying Control Committee reported he did what they expected him to do in the circumstances. He’d actually broken away from his display routine to reposition as it was a particularly dificult day weather wise with the cloudbase and visability just good enough. The Shoreham display area can be challenge with a number of areas that must be avoided.

Ah I see! Well, it was pretty epic!!! left everyone i was with, including myself, with jaws dropped =D

The display the Vulcan gave at Airbourne & Shoreham last year was amaazzzingggg! Will never forget the pilot (accidently?) banking right over the crowd line at Shoreham! It was much tamer and quieter this year at RIAT

I was intrigued by the 747 having its engines twin podded and replacing the outer engine mounts with slipper tanks. what was that about?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t that left over from a bond film? I forget which one

As for Top Gear, I have not much interest in cars, I just watch it for the comedy, love some of the races they do in the most ridiculous vehicles :’)

We decided to give Legends a miss in the end, being situated in Newport Wales, we decided RIAT would be much easier to get to and a lot friendlier on our wallets in terms of train travel haha (plus we’ve never been and ive always wanted to go, the one year i went, was the year it flooded and cancelled >.<)
