The Deputy PM also has a reputation as a chronic bull****ter.

So you are saying that the Russian Deputy PM is American to the core ?

Some Russian sources said that the Russian satellite-guided bombs are installed two antennas global satellite communications and one for receiving information from a ground stations differential corrections. The CEP 2-3m of satellite-guided bombs just archieved if the signal corrections combined from both satellites and ground stations. Other while (lacking the ground stations), the CEP of satellite guided bombs is 15 – 18 m.

However the establishment of such ground stations in areas of military conflicts is problematic so they decided to equipt more the IIR matching seeker parallel with INS and Glonass/GPS.

    So basically a Russian LJDAM

It was also damn difficult for special forces to lase ground targets from cover though dense woodland.

But launch plane itself could illuminate the target with an/aaq-14, right ?

DFRM works by injecting memorized transmitter waveform into the large sidelobes of older radar systems. This “fills the sky” with false targets for older systems.

Sidelobes are minimal for new radar systems.

orly, so then why is this gentleman more than concerned about it ?

“We—the U.S. [Department of Defense]—haven’t been pursuing appropriate methods to counter EA [electronic attack] for years,” a senior Air Force official with extensive experience on the F-22 told The Daily Beast. “So, while we are stealthy, we will have a hard time working our way through the EA to target [an enemy aircraft such as a Russian-built Sukhoi] Su-35s and our missiles will have a hard time killing them.”

bigger also unreliable and noisy. fly them in pairs and if one fall down and 2nd one can still provide information and possible airstrike for those who are coming after it.

Are you able to read ? MQ-9 Reaper and it`s smaller brother Predator are by far the benchmark, not unrealibale and not noisy.

This is exactly what Russia needs

Maybe it`s time Russia stops the BS with building drones for Arctic/Mars etc and concentrate on building a Reaper equivalent ?

Those RC “grade” UAVs like Orlan are a slap on Russsia defence indusry sector

Yeah, yeah I know , it`s ages old thread etc and so on

But, it was my understanding that the russian kab-500 and kh-29 with video cameras needed to be manually steered until the boom moment, can someone confirm ?

I know its a little off topic but I was wondering what you guys thought of Russian TV guided bombs. I know they’re weather limited (night too possibly) but so are LGBs. Also they’re fire and forget

The same photo is in Yefim Gordon’s ‘Tupolev Tu-160 Blackjack’ book – Vol 9 in his Red Star series.

    It has the caption……

“For extreme high-altitude missions Tu-160 crews wear Baklan pressure suits with full-face pressure helmets similar to an astronaut’s attire”

I’m not sure if ‘Baklan’ is a typo for ‘Balkan’….. no, Google says it’s Baklan.

I found this on the Zvezda website……

The KOKOS-1 set, which comprises the Baklan aviation pressure suit, for Tu-160 pilots was designed and developed.

Russians sacrificed that drone on purpose in order to test Turkish response and approach.

Somehow I tend to agree with your statement
