IMHO the MiG-25 is/was highly overrated, particularly when compared to the equivalent US aircraft the F-15 and F-14. The aircraft was capable of startling performance, in a straight line, but as a fighter it had limited avionics and needed to rely on GCI units to really be effective – if the GCI units were jammed, then it was easy meat for an F-15, as demonstrated by the IAF over the Bekka Valley. In the reconnaissance role, its performance and capabilities were way behind the SR-71. It may have looked impressive, but it was primitive and expensive to operate. The Arab nations who were ‘allowed’ to purchase the MiG-25 were welcome too them. The Indian Air Force made the best use of the aircraft, but repeatedly overstated the aircrafts performance, presumably to irritate their neighbours in Pakistan.

WOW 😮 , so much knowledge about Foxbat  I`am amazed
You compare it with the F-14 and F-15 ? muahahaha, it was an Interceptor not a Fighter, you know, 2 different things.
You say it`s primitive ? oh boy, you`re young 🙁
The radar had 2 wavebands and it was jamproof, of course it was primitive, nobody had something similar.
The Blackbird was a dedicated recon jet, I don`t remember reading somewhere when a fighter jet was downed by a SR-71, the MiG-25 did wonderfull his jobs : both recon and interception.
You the kind that gets the info about aviation from The Sun ?
After the russians introduced the Foxbat the SR-71 didn`t show up in the area where these operated, it was a formidable deterrent platform.
Before replying some other stupid thing about the Foxbat read Yefim Gordon`s book.
