Definitely 3/9 – 1/3 each!! It is etched in the memory – whoever went to the barbers for a haircut??:D
And why was it always something for the weekend?
I recall being ‘potless’ for several years while a young man – even at that price 1s 3d it was always “a considered purchase”
Like the shot up the back end of the Hurri !
Thanks for posting.
I think there is a clue in the use of the word ‘Temporary’ on the linked image – lots of aircraft have had ‘temporary’ paint jobs, sometimes not always seen on public display.
One of 224’s Shackletons once bore nose-art of the cartoon character Andy Capp (thanks to Graham Ridley!!!!) – this was applied in the ASF hangar at North Front in the late 1950’s but didn’t see the light of day as the junior engineering officer of the day tossed a wobbler when he saw it 😮 .
Enter man with a spray gun!!
Sorry for a hint of thread drift (but it is paint-job specific)
Hey, Lincoln – if you’re caught short 😮 you can also try Bog Lane in many places including Melbourne (Derby not Oz – unless you know better! York, Leeds, Tenbury Wells, etc.

Mine were the same as Resmorah’s when I was posted to Borneo in 1960s – I was ground crew, but our Dragmaster crews had the same type.
I had to hand mine back at the end of my tour – perhaps they issued them to somebody else
Interesting stuff – thanks for the link Newforest.:)
My husband, who’s as fascinated by buses as I am by flying-boats,tells me that Wrightbus are building the new London bus, nicknamed the Borismaster.
He told me a lot more about it that I can’t remember, but here’s a picture of it for those weird people that might be interested –
That’s only a mock-up though! – is Boris?:D
Answers on the back of a Routemaster, please.
