RE: DO YOU BELIEVE IN GOD?
No, as I was raised in a predominantly Christian country and attended Christian schools up to Year 8, most of my morals and ethics are based on Christian fundamentals, but I do not believe in God.

RE: Going to NZ in June.
I’ll probably be heading to NZ in June or July as well for a ski trip with some mates, any idea how much ski passes are to the Remarkables and how much I should guestimate for spending money per day (i.e., how much are meals etc. over there?).

RE: Favourite Holiday Destination
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-04-02 AT 06:51 AM (GMT)]Have been to Malaysia myself a couple of times, love the food, hate the weather…as for all these newest/tallest/best infrastucture (do I detect a bit of an inferiority complex here??? ;)), that has nothing to do with making Malaysia a nice holiday destination (for anything less than a week, I really can’t bear the weather), it’s the people and the food which do it for me.
I personally prefer holidays a bit closer to home. Just hopping in a car and heading down the coast with a carload of mates and a boot-load (or trunk-load for you Americans) of beer is my idea of a nice holiday. Fairhaven has one of the most beautiful and best beaches in Australia, IMHO, if a bit chilly :).
I would like to go to Europe one day, everybody raves about it, Tibet and Japan are also on my list of places I want to visit.

Has to be the Koala “bear”.
Look at those fluffy ears! And it grunts funny! And stinks!

RE: B 747 SP
The SP stands for Special Performance. It’s based on the 747-200 (I think) with a shorter fuselage and enlarged vertical fin (to accomodate for the reduced moment arm). It’s got short(er) take-off and landing performance, and a longer range than -100s, -200s and -300s.
I don’t think it was a great success for Boeing commercially, but it might have a secondary military application as either tankers with similar offload performance to KC-10s (according to aforementioned Mr. Kopp anyway) with associated short(er) field performance, always an advantage when operating into some smaller military airbases, or as strategic airlifters (or both).

RE: B 747 SP
Wow Geforce, the civvie board!
747SP, has been proposed by some daft guy called Carlo Kopp as a tanker for the RAAF (sorry, I can’t keep myself away from the mil stuff :)), Qantas operates some…

RE: Air NewZeland produces worlds second longest flight.
LAST EDITED ON 13-06-01 AT 08:01 AM (GMT)[p]Are u sure SAA’s Johanesburg-NY is the world’s longest route? AFAIK, there are plenty of longer routes than that, with Qantas and UA both operating Melbourne-LA non-stops with 747-400s (listed at 12762km, 14hrs 10mins northbound, 15hrs 20mins southbound) as well as Sydney-LA non-stops, again with 747-400s (listed at 12036km, 13hrs 30 mins northbound, 14hrs 35mins southbound). When launched the Melb-LA route overtook Chicago-HK (12549km) as the world’s longest scheduled non-stop service (as measured by shortest possible routing).

RE: Qantas new aircraft
Not entirely sure, but Qantas looks pretty set to purchase 10 A3XX’s with options on another 10 and the same number of 777-200IGW.
RE: Ansett B777’s
i’ve actually heard that Ansett is going to acquire up to 12 747s for it’s as yet not announced trans pacific services, and the B777s or A330s will be used on routes to asia
