Thank you very much Bager1968! We’re all set now. I’ll post some final renders when we get to that stage.

Great work!! That landing gear detail is a special treat. Now if we can find stuff like that for the Sabre we’re home free.

I was originally aiming for modelling FS models (since this sub forum is after all in the Flight Simulation forum), but again, anything aviation related can fit here.

I do low poly 3D aircraft modeling. Im not good at it yet, but I hope to become good enough to be able to put out FS models that people would download. Here is an example of what Im working on now, its done in Wings3D:
(I think the sub-forums have died out ever since they made them accessable only within their parent forums, so I dont think anyone is around anymore to see this)

My friend Lei Gou textured it for me in XSI:

Thanks for your reply. Is there a formula for calculating this segment of the overall g-force? If one built the cockpit at the center of lift inside something like a gyro (that is, turns on the vertical axis would be minimal) would the G-forces be relatively reduced?

The forumlas that Newton wrote for the laws of gravity and momentum are what apply to calculating centrifical forces. You should talk to your physics teacher at whatever school or university you go to. You will find that calculating such formulas is a lot more simple and straightforward than you think.

And as I already said, the forces created by an aircraft rotating on its axis (which are so small as to be negligable) are not related to the centrifical forces of an aircraft pulling a tight turn.

The g-force would be the same no matter how far the pilot is postioned in relation to the center of gravity of the aircraft or the center of lift to the aircraft. The leverage forces due to your distance away from angle of rotation would be felt, but would be a very small increase/decrease to overall g-force, and is not directly related to the centrifical g-force of a turn.

I think a common problem in western culture is that we tend to think our morals are always correct. In Japan surrender was not part of their culture, it was considered an honor to be executed after defeat in battle. During the island campaigns in WW2, not only Japanese soldiers, but Japanese civilians commited suicide rather than surrender.

I also think it is ironic that we ignore the atrocitys of the Germans in WW2, and hold them in such high esteem. Of course most everyone is familiar with the holocaust. And somehow we dont think much of however many millions that the Germans exterminated, but when we see a few thousand traumitized war veterans of the pacifac theater, that is somehow worse to us. And then there are the millions of Russian civilians the Germans killed. The Germans were actually welcomed as liberators by the Ukranians, but they quickly discovered that their fate was to be worn down to non-existance, then they fought bitterly for their survival. In fact the war on the eastern front turned into one of “take no prisoners” on each side as a result of German actions. Ironic because Germany could have won the war against Russia had they treated those they defeated humanely.

Dont get BF2, BF2 is a cheap knockoff of Desert Combat. Just get BF42 and download all the good mods like Desert Combat, Forgotten Hope, BF1918, BF Pirates and Galactic Conquest.

Ghost Recon- This game is the ultimate in realism. The AI is unnervingly realistic. The online multiplayer has a strong following. You really got to be good to play this one.

Counterstrike (an HL mod)- Its the ultimate classic, there are about a 1000 maps you can download for it. Some other good HL mods are Day of Defeat and The Ship.

    My other favorites are:

    Return to Castle Wolfenstien
Max Paine (Max Paine 2 is good but very short)
    SoF2
    Unreal2
    Rouge Spear series
Chaser (I strongly recommend this one)
    Medal of Honor
    HL2
    GTA series
    Mafia
Americas Army (this ones a free download)
    FarCry

I think the reason that China nor any other far east nation was able to fully develope is because they were dominated by the Huns for the last 2000 years all the way up to the 1600s. The Huns were simply an unbeatable adversary in the pre-gunpowder age. They were a culture that litterally lived on horse back and whos archery skills have never been equaled by anyone at at any time. Although they controled a huge empire, they were never really an empire building culture and allowed their conquered peoples to continue with their culture.

I also want to say that the US’s tech industrys have largely been sourced out overseas or are occupied by foriegners with work visas. So the US may still be a power in bussiness, but are no longer producing enough people with tech skills to support its industry.

Just curious, what was the cause of the noise problem in the Collins subs?
