I think the forum is being hacked again. Youll notice some of the people who are making the posts arent around here anymore.

How can you knock Braveheart? That is probably the most accurate historical film made in the last 15 years. Very accurately depicting William Wallace vs Edward II and the austere living circumstances of the 1400s. Now The Patriot does get my vote as a Historical Farce.

I made a test on this website. I tried to translate of thread from this forum from english to French. It’s barely understandable !!! I had to read the english text to understand the french one !!!
It’s a pure joke !
There might be a problem translating english to french, but I sure dont have a problem tranlating french to english. Im currently trying to learn a certain kind of computer graphics for which there is almost no online help in english. A friend I have who is french who I know online suggested to me a french site which I translate in bablefish and have no problem reading. The sites down now, but you can see from the from this closed site message that its very readable:
“Hello,
If you read the preceding message written by Darkeden, you know about about the problems which we had with respect to our data base (I make a point of reassuring you, one did not lose anything of the site nor of your messages of forum etc etc…)
Today I update the page for a first reason: I have Internet (yes that made soon a month that I did not have Internet, then that did not accelerate the things inevitably).
Second reason: I have the new one. The problem was partially repaired, I wait to be able to repair another end of the problem and there all should be good.
With a little chance (but for the moment one too did not have of it), the site could be réouvert Saturday. If not Monday… Though it is I will hold you as much as possible with the current of what it occurs.
Large a thank you with Darkeden which helped well to advance the things, and still all our excuses for this problem which really badly fell (pile hair at the time when I had to move).

heres the original message in French:
Bonjour,

Does Bush have a 100% approval rating? No? Then I guess all Americans aren’t behind him, are they? And let me think…we have a bunch of people in Iraq. They could be rebuilding the infrastructure. Instead, they have to go hunting for a bunch of asshats who I guess want to keep Iraq in the stone age. No wonder nothing gets done. The people supposed to be helping the citizens are instead having to sort through them and find the few bad apples who spoiled everything for everybody. But no, the fault could never lie on anyone other than an American.Just who would you propose we let go in there and help rebuild?
The reason the US military is chasing “asshats” is because its the US snail pace handleing of the situation that is keeping Iraq in the stoneage. Noone wants to listen to people who are pointing out poor (or nonexistant) stratagy for plans to rebuild . And since the US isnt allowing other countrys to go in (and you know very well that countrys like France, Germany, Russia and most other European countrys want very much to be part of the rebuilding), we have to listen to Dubyas speaches about how US troops are going to stamp out the enemys of freedom, when its the US post war mismanagment that is hindering freedom and holding back progress.

Unfortunately Americans are far from embarrassed about the president. And in true Republican form, the majority of people can only shower praises for how the president and US govt is handleing the situation. Were the US adminastration capable of admitting fault, they would be backing down on trying to control everything in Iraq and let other countrys go in and start rebuilding and investing. So really the Iraqi people are suffering from lack of basic services and US soldiers are being killed all because noone will admit that Bush and the majority of the US government is bungleing the situation. And lets face it, Bush is another Reagan. Hes got the US government on autopilot and lives off this Republican image of vain self importance. The fact that he went on a one month vacation to his own ranch about a month after entering office pretty much says it all.

As far as battlefield combat goes, Medieval Total War just blows away the competition. You have full size battlefields that provide unlimited area no matter where the battle moves. The interface is simple yet gives excelent control of the entire army. The combat AI is realistic, not a hacking match like Age of Empires series. It really like controling a real battle. The bad news is that the political/economic part of the game between battles is mind numbingly stupid, and pretty much ruins the game. One example is you can only move armys one country at a time for each year, so it takes you about 8 years to move your troops into combat. You seem to be spending the entire time just closing these repetitive popup windows about what happened in the last “year”. They should really have that part of the game redone. BTW, starting from Denmark, I have taken control of all western europe and northafrica until I met with armys in russia and the balkans that finally outnumbered me and started driving me back, which is when I stopped playing the game.
