Fuel casterisks?
I was hoping they could have used expenses scandal MPs as live subjects in the shelter, for greater realism.
It’s junk to me if it doesn’t have power steering, air con and a damn good sound system… plus it’s an MG, so it’s junk anyway. I’d rather drive a Fiat :diablo:
Having emailed the organisers to point them to this thread I had a remarkably swift response pointing out that the only charge is £5 per additional passenger, so perhaps if your father didn’t fill his car with people he’d get in for free. Perhaps his passengers can get off outside the airfield, walk in and pay the full price like everybody else? Little Gransden charges vehicle owners too. Seems asking for donations from them results in empty buckets. Misers…

Just been told by my father that they charge people to bring classic cars to the show, is this true? If so thats somewhat of a Joke, they pay the owners of the aircraft to attend so why charge people to display classic cars?!
What “display” does this “classic car”* perform? Any loops, rolls, Derry turns, etc.? Or is it just … parked … How much fuel does this “classic car” use during its display or its transit to the venue? Please compare with, say, the consumption of an F-16.
I will hazard a guess the crowd will neither notice nor care if one miserly “classic car” owner is so outraged by being asked to pay to get in to a charity fund-raising event that he stays at home.
* some people say classic car, others may say old heap of junk

Good to see Hawker’s prettiest jet back in the air – disappointed to miss her at Duxford at the weekend.
Why do you think it’s faked?
Because I was there and the aircraft had passed way off to the left before the pyros went off. Note two people holding up cameras at bottom of frame – following the aircraft, which in reality was far out of shot to the left.
It also didn’t descend by about 100 ft in the space of the 5 seconds or so that would have elapsed between the first frame above and the faked one! If you’re going to fake a shot like this, basic details like keeping the aircraft size consistent does help.
Here’s a video from almost exactly the same view point:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/leicestershire/8240485.stm
I count 4 seconds between aircraft going out of shot to left and the explosions having developed into the stage shown in the faked pic.
Mortar shot is very nice.
The last shot is a bit obviously faked. Why ruin your reputation by posting such rubbish?
Other than the Navy100 flypasts, I think next full displays for the Sea Vixen are at RNAS Culdrose on the 29th July…
Odiham tomorrow?
Wing Commander (retd) Chox – if you do not ‘want’ anything, why do you continue to post your interminable blocks of text, while avoiding any straight question put to you? Still waiting to hear what you did in the RAF.
TSR2 was not equipped with an arrestor hook of any description.
AGAIN? How many times does this need to happen before El Presidente releases some funds to fix the bloody roof instead of tarting up model aeroplanes on sticks?
It wasn’t as good as last year, I thought, but it was still an enjoyable day out and my nephew enjoyed himself just as much. Vulcan very disappointing of course but I kind of expected that. The Typhoon display made us both forget about the Vulcan anyway.
I see Chox continues to live in his alternate reality where he’s in the RAF, the sky is green, everybody thought the show was rubbish despite the forums he’s pointing you at showing that most people thought it was a good day out, and the UK is at the height of an economic boom.
Mr Chox, you have only yourself to blame if you are less than clear:
Bloodnok:
I’d say from your posts you’ve never been in the RAF, and I doubt you actually get ‘hands on’ with aircraft either!
Chox:
Let’s keep things polite Bloodnok. Suffice to say you’re completely off-track if you think I’ve had nothing to do with aircraft and/or the RAF.
A person of integrity would have said ‘No, I have never been in the RAF’ rather than attempting to mislead with a deliberately vague response.
I have had an informative – and highly entertaining – PM which explains your only ‘link’ with the RAF. I now fully understand the sniping position which you have taken up and understand there is no need to respond further to you.
