Probably a more stable pylon fitting. The sensor apparatus would want to have a clear FOV, and to do that it’d need to hang below the engine nacelles. Without a fairing like this, you’d have a really deep pylon, which could lead to a lot of vibration issues.

I don’t think it’s a plylon at all. I see a door there . something either goes in or out..but what?.

Fitted with 2×12 VL Shtil front and rear, the Type 52B would make an excellent and relatively low-cost GP destroyer, especially if backed up a Type 54A variant with 2×12 VL Shtil and 2xType 730 CIWS to increase commonality for logistical purposes. A further enhancement of these would be to equip the Type 730 with TY90 missiles. Onwards to series production!

My fave ships have to be the Frigates 054 “Maanshan” not so much as a wepon platform but as a ships platform. the clean unclutter deck space.now give this the new VLS missles to replace HHQ7.upgrade the AK-630 CISW with perhaps with “Tunguska” 9M311-M1 Surface-to-Air Missile. a all missles self defence system would be a killer’s!….[(NATO designation SA-19 Grison]also since it has a very large hanger a better larger helicopter than ka-28 for asw duty.no wonder the pak want this ship.s 4 of them so far!… 😉 .
