It’s the old turbojets like the old Tumanskiis and Khachturovs for the MiG-21s and -23s that were much cheaper to build and were expected to be replaced after a short usage period. The modern turbofans like the RD-33s and AL-31s are not necessarily that much cheaper to build.

yep ,we are talking about 2 type of engin.turbofan and turbojet’s.the turbofan are more expensive and harder to produce.I still not belived the russian master the precision milling’s just yet.look at the Rd-33.this smoke badly and use too much fuel.than US turbofan’s.

The French governement is about to order the second tranche of 59 rafales B/C F2 for € 3.1 billions.

That means a unit fly away cost of €52.54 millions ($64 millions) for a custumer with an option on 234 aicrafts like the french air force.

the eurofighter’s is not even in production.yet the rafales.so how can they is more Ef than the rafales?.

Mao broke with Khrushchev, not the other way around. The Soviets withdrawing technical support to the PRC can be attributed completely to Mao’s switch to Maoism rather than Marxism-Leninism, and blatantly telling so to the Russians.
“this goes back when stalin back chiang and KMT after WW2 which shock mao and never trust the russian ever again.”

Uninterrupted domestic supply? If there is one thing China has shown since the breakup with the USSR around 1960, is that it was NOT capable or even seemed interested in a continuous and uninterrupted supply of military goods.
Also, indigenous developments in the PRC, despite all the efforts of the last 15 to 20 years, have still failed to field any modern combat aircraft. In all honesty, but it will be at least 50 years until Mao’s breakup with the USSR will finally be made up by the PRC either looking at other suppliers of hardware (the West until 1989), and/or indigenisation.

“well they did delovp the atomic bomb without any russian help.and they won’t take 50 years to deploy moder warcraft.just they don’t want to start a arm race in the region namly japan.they going stay the coruse and build they arm force’s verly slowly.they have the money now.forex stand at $300 billion’s.”

These are some reasons why the USSR ended up behind the US. Another big one is computer technology. In the early days of computing, advances were mainly logical, design based, and the USSR was competitive. From the point of integrated circuits, production quality began to be a major factor in producing computers, and they became mainstream items. The USSR could not compete, and fell way behind.

yep and the gap is closing.with chip’s design being moved out of USA.russia,china,taiwan,korea,etc. even the chinese has one of the fastest supercompuer in the world, now and usa semi co. relied on oversea for chip’s chip’s innovation now.
