And what about costs? The bigger, the more accurate, the more powerful a IR seeker, the more expensive it is. With stuff like a target database and CPU to process it all, the unit cost will further increase. You might as well go for a proper AShM for sea targets and lasers will work just as well if not more so for guiding bombs on land.

your only going to use for a high profile target liked a $2 billion destoyer or a $20 billion nuclear aircraf carriers.not on a $6,000 truck liked the US does with it hi-tech weapons.

Because laser seekers are cheaper purhaps? :p There is also the issue of seeker range and targeting. The best IRAAM seekers can only get a lock on a very hot jet engine in a cold sky at a handful of miles. The ground is hotter, so will make the contrast lesser and reduce range, targeting ID will also be a problem for ground targets.

For targets like ships, there are hundred-mile-ranged AShMs because in this day and age, you are not likely to be able to fly anyhwere near close enough to a remotely capable warship to use bombs, even glide bombs. For unarmed merchants, dive-bombing with free-falls or unguided rockets straifing would be just as effective for a fraction of the cost.

well laser seeker is limit to about 6km and a very large infra-red seekers can be use on a big bomb you need to know what the the infra red signiture the targets in the data base.and target sigiture will be differnt than surronding object it can have very long detecting range.

How was the flight envelope verified? I am not an aeronautics guy, but the open source presentation on the LCA flutter test up to M1.4 indicates it takes a lot of efforts and flight time.

And Did the 16 minute flight involve supersonic regime? if not DSI is not a criteria. You can use any inlet for subsonic operation.

they was playing awfully safe for the maiden flight the landing gears seem was lock in place for the whole flight or I haven’t seen any pictures or videos that show the landing wheel was fully retracked.so no mach speed this time.

    Loading 12X250KG bombs to JH7….

why no one has try using infra-red seekers on aerial bombs? should be good for moving targets liked ships and can be drop quite a distant aways. good ideal or what?.
    🙂 😮 😀

    Thailand-50 unlikely

    Pakistan-150 maybe not that many
Myanmar-40/60 probaly some since they get alot aids from china
    Bangladesh-12 another Myanmar
    Zimbawe-30 30 too many
Sudan-80 80 is way too little they ships $ 2 billion of oils to china every years probaly more since the price of oils risen they better buy another 20 jets.
Venezuela-100 they only sell to venezuela if US sell more jets to taiwan.
    Albania-40 Who they?.
    Libya-150 for oils hell yes.
Nigeria-80 they just got $ 4 billions from china better buy another 20 jets again.
Egypt-120 maybe but the JEWS won’t liked about this one
Iran-150 $100 billions coming they way from china. double the orders!.
North Korea-40(free from PRC) none at all south korea is china more perfer allies.

am I the only one who thinks the FC-1 looks much better than the J-10 from an aesthetic point of view

only becuase it have DSI intake not some brackets holding the intake up on the J-10 and what that about?.plus the wing with lerx look more modern than inverted gulf wing on the J-10.but the super J-10 will fix all the short coming new wing, new nose, and maybe 2 aven engine and become a truly 4.5 genaration fighters big and very powerful and deadly!.

Notice, that a ferry range of 3650 km never gives a real combat radius of 1650 km!
Except the weaponsload is reduced to two small AAMs alongside all ext. FTs. Even then with optimum height, reduced range-speed and avoiding different power-settings, required in true combat-flying.

well that goes to show you the spey turbofan is badly underpower rumor the next version will use the WS10A and that will grealy enchance the payload and endurnce hope it’s true about the new engine

Lockeed’s “record” was less for a record’s sake than as a direct slap in the face at Boeing. The X-32 couldn’t do supersonic flight AND a vertical landing in the same mission.

are you sure this is correct?. the reason the locmartain JSF was chosen because it didn’t cause a sparks whlie vertical landing notorious with with VTOL jet liked super harriaes and yak-38.didn’t the “boeing monica big mouthV/STOL” achives supersoinic flight?.

off topic but can someone validate that? any links?

And how did the FC-1’s range and speed increase so dramatically? 1,200 to 1800 and mach 1.6 to 1.8

Not that I doubt it but just want to see the reasoning / logic

probaly uprated engine which no one knows what will be install.I think the engine going surpise everyone on this broad.

Interesting how much people can write without having sligthest knowlegde (with some exeptions of course like the fellow I quoted).

With M0.37 and 19.5 degrees of alpha in 16.000ft the F-18 (or whatever) isn’t really in a favorable position. Next second it just falls out of the sky. If it was a dogfight, it was a very strange one and the F-22 (or whatever) was fooling around. In that altitude no F-22 (or any other fighter) would get so slow.
The “hunter” is himself in a pretty bad condition, having a miserable energy state and flying on the left edge of his flight envelope.

so you know how fast the raptors was flying?. huh!
