Thanks for looking 🙂
They are heavily corroded, and made, I would suggest, from steel judging from the look of the corrosion, unusual but not impossible rocket material, found around the world (Kassam Rockets in Israel) but in UK waters, ? maybe some sort of fishing / marine application.
Don’t know what they are, but don’t think they are designed to fly through the air!

NOW EU FINES BRITAIN £250,000 EACH DAY
THE EU was accused of acting like a spoilt child yesterday after threatening the UK with fines of £250,000 a day for failing to implement new rules.
The huge penalty was proposed by the European Commission the day after David Cameron called for EU reform and promised Britain a referendum on whether to stay in on new terms or leave.
Outraged MPs said Brussels’ petty attempt at revenge would make a vote to pull out even more likely, while the Whitehall department affected also hit back at the Eurocrats, insisting the UK was on the verge of meeting their demands.

I prefer being pedantic personally…
I guessed that 😀
Only if you count the date the platform came into service not airframe life. The variant currently in service is the Tu-95MS which was built from the 1980’s into the 90’s making them some of the youngest strategic bombers currently in service. So it isn’t a potential 88 years at all. I believe new engines and propellers are being built for them or being considered, for its cruise missile launch platform work it is perfect.
Its good enough for me that whatever variant is in service now, the type has been around since 1952 and is expected (Like the B52 by the way) to remain in service up to 2040, 88 years is amazing for one design to remain useful 🙂

Lifted from Wikki to save typing! 🙂
The Tupolev Tu-95 (Russian: Туполев Ту–95 NATO reporting name: Bear) is a large, four-engine turboprop-powered strategic bomber and missile platform. First flown in 1952, the Tu-95 entered service with the Soviet Union in 1956 and is expected to serve the Russian Air Force until at least 2040! Potential 88 years service ! amazing 😮

1992 30 years ago? Holy crap I must be 40 in a couple of weeks.
I,m nearly a pensioner you know 😀 must be an age thing …….. 20 years ago then 😉
Referring only to the Mildenhall Airshow incident.
Well I was there, in the press enclosure, The Lanc stopped quite close to us, and I believe the crew and ground handlers were milling about in the press area, someone quite authoritative (Crew member?) stated it was a brake problem when asked, which quickly got round the assembled media, that’s how I remember it anyway, it was 20 years ago
I believe the Lanc flew out the next day after checks.
I was there, on the south side in the media area, I remember it being said the port wheel-brake had frozen on, the wheel locking on touchdown, the commenter commented ” Dont worry folks, its only the media over there, as the Lanc veered directly toward us 😮 😀
