A truly great man, an aerospace genius, someone who harked back to a time when the french were brave and would stand up to evil, unlike now.

    We still do.

One of the most beautifull Marcel Bloch’s creation – the Mirage IV – flown over Afghanistan as eatly as October 2001 for recco missions.

Then some other Marcel Bloch’s creation – M2000D and Super Etendard – made more war missions over Afghanistan than all other Europeans countries togather. With iron under wings of course and daily strikes.

    So we stand against evil.

Then we stand again against evil, against disinformations, lies and brainwashing of hate, against Bush’s adm in the UN. So here again, we stand against evil. ๐Ÿ™‚

(a pitty there is still trolls who pop out of their bush to any occasions, even when it’s to honor a great man and a great Gaullist)

(so now let stop talking politics otherwise SOC or others moderators would not be happy)

    Who started?

I explain. When your dear Sarkozy went to La Courneuve during the riots, he promised (in front of all the cameras) that most young people of this suburb will find a job. Of course, five months later medias wanted to know if things have changed… and the answer was NO.

If they had learnt that the only way to break the ‘fatality’ is hard work, be inteligent and well organized, they wouln’t be desapointed if nothing come.

But socialists teatchers have teatch them where to find help when there is a problem instead.
It’s those who told them that life is gona be simple who are liars and are guilty.
We don’t ow them anything but free education and free health care which is already huge. After everybody have the freedom to be a looser in a democracy.

    ****

For the Mirage 4000, the France will had a better strike power and a counterpart face to the F-15E, the Mirage 4000 was claimed to carry more payload than the F-15E, thanx to the prime minister in the mid 70’s to pull out the project…

    +1

Just ask people from La Courneuve what Sarko promises become when the medias are away…

What? that he’ll use Tiger helicopteres to teatch ‘hem that the Republic is not a b!tch?
    Oh yeah, coooool! ๐Ÿ˜€

    ****

I agree about the two seat M2000D. I love it too (I love the 2000 anyway)

Also, the profile is not the good angle for the Rafale IMO … any version. That’s the contrary for the Eurofighter.

    I agree with that, SteveO.
But in France we don’t know how preserving our aviation, including historic planes. As you know, Great Britain and USA perfectly manage to preserve their warbirds, including flying old supersonic jets such as Sea Vixens or even F-100.

In France, a law was passed recently about “homeland security” by Sarkozy (our hatred minister). This law considered old warbirds as weapons, and they were prohibited flying!
Collectioners (people who have warbirds… I don’t now the english word) have to fought against the ministry to earn the right to fly their machines…
That’s why you will never saw an old Mirage III or Crusader flying in a French meeting…and also that’s why so many Mirage III or Caravelle were found in scrapyard and just avoid scrapping.

Firstly the “hatred minister” is the most popular one and probably will become next president,
Secondly, keep your opinions for you will you, specially on a foreign forum,
Third, the minister have nothing to do with this, it’s some retards civil servants (as usual) who interpreted the law this way (it’s on the way to be solved)
Forth, one part of Sarko’s program is to make all that kind of civil servants who **** off those who want to move their ass and cost us more than the entire world fleet of fighters every year to shut their ******* mouth,
Five, i agree that the Rafale B is not very cute … but IMO the 2 seat Eurofighter is even less a success ๐Ÿ˜€

(Sorry for the off topic part ๐Ÿ˜Ž )

    Hummm let’s see:

    – 150 Rafales,
    – Tiger helicopteres to replace the F35 for Close Air Support,
    – M51 balistic missiles with their 6 stealth war head each.

For all this, we can make a 3% discount (… if you pay cash of couse)

    Something else?

This prototype is based on the studies of Von Zborowski, a former nazi ingeneer who came in France after the war.

It reach 900 meter then exploded ๐Ÿ™

The USA won Von Braun, we won Von Zborowski ๐Ÿ˜€

Is is a modification for security reasons (front gear problems) or a modification for carrier operations ? ๐Ÿ˜€

    link of Aurel

The British ships will carry versions of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, while the French plan to use the Rafale fighter jet built by Dassault as well as unmanned air vehicles.

    ahem…..

It depends. 70M$ could be honest if it includes weapons or a production line or technology transfert or god knows what.
It’s hard to say without knowing the whole package.
(Less honest: overpricing with back payments on a swiss account happend too unfortunately ๐Ÿ™ )

Now, big margins happens too if the seller is in a strong position, well…
If some of you guys say that it was overpriced because they know the story, lets trust them, I just wanted to point out different possible scenario.

I agree with Britan on this one.

That’s not by creating a new structure full of civil servant that it gona change anything.
That kind of struture driven only by political reasons always drive to fiasco.

What is successful it’s when there is a leader.
When the most competent take the lead and everybody back him. And they do it … because they are themselve leader on other projects.

See Airbus, Eurocoptere, Meteor, Scalp-EG/Storm Shadow, Ariane. All those programs are very successful and all of them are European sovereignty programs started with a leadership.

Pratically, I’d prefer UK to buy Rafales for her carrier and France buy her carrier as well as nuke submarines for example, than the building of such a ‘fund’.
Here, it’d be real Europe building.

Assuming a weight of 10t for Rafale (“10 t class” quote by Dassault) then Typhoon F2 is just 11.15% heavier. Whilst the EJ200 has at least 20% more power

To be a nitpicker i’d say that the Raf’ is closer to 9500 kg than 10t. 10 t is the weight of the B version and you can remove at least 600 kg for the C version.

Some data give the T2 at 11300 – 11400 kg as well. So we’re not far of the 20% above.

Anyway, there’s still the weapons weight issue as well as the range.

More weight -> more need of power -> more fuel consuption -> more fuel -> more weight, etc…. or shorter range ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Lets fill both plane for the same range with 6 BVR AAM each and lets check it.

(with war setting 38% more, war setting is a life reducing software change which makes normal output to 69kN) .

Every engine have war setting. That’s just a change in the FADEC software.
Same for ECM, ECCM, EM missiles mode, datalink,…

    Edit:

    c-seven

Both engine are “as efficient” but the EJ200 is quite more powerful

The very fact that SNECMA need a complete upgrade (new air intake needed, bigger diameter, heavier) to be as powerful AND as efficient is only the proof that the EJ200 ON PAPER enjoy an advantage over the M88.

    No Glitterr.

SFC show the consuption of a engine per N of thrust.

And here both engine are equivalent as shown by Rob’s data and mine ๐Ÿ˜Ž

So they are as efficient (or unefficient… cuz the F414 does better).

Now that’s true that the EJ200 is 20% more powerful, perfectly right, but it’s a bigger engine and since the SFC are even, the EJ200 consuption is logically 20% higher.

In another hand, the Eurofighter is 20% heavier too**. So….

Figures don’t show everything. TWR with 100%, 50%, 25% of fuel are nice. But what would be more relevant pratically are TWR comparison with both planes fueled for the same range. If Rafale has the same range with 75% fuel than Eurofighter with 100% for example, that’s this comparison which will be relevant for the user.

Add to this that Mica is significantly lighter than the AIM-120 and we see that in spite of all the propa… communication of the EF team, Rafale is even to say the least on the TWR issue.

    ** while carrying 20% more.
Edit: oops. while carrying 20% less

Nobody really believe that it gona happen. The discussion just show that a Franco/British cooperation would make a lot of sens but the Brits’ are trapped since the beginning when they made de 2bยฃ blank check.
About “disappointment”, i’m glad you discover that most member of the American adm are not polite Lors but billionaires… and they loose all their sens of humour when it goes to defend their interrests.
For that kind, “special relashionship” is British humour in a world where there is just “power relashionship” and “projects for a new American century”.

Oh yeah, “special relationship”… They let you finish your sentence before kicking you out of their office. Feel glad about it.

French “disapointement” is much more comfortable since we don’t have such problems to put some aircrafts on our carriers. All the rest is bonus.
