I’ve listed this item on eBay as “Supermarine Spitfire switchbox 2 way ignition; Air Ministry Ref No. 5c/1540” would I be right, I know the Spitfire used them.

Its been confirmed the dial is from the Air Ministry, Oxygen Regulator, which is good news, as I can list the dial with the other oxygen related items I have (the 6D/483 metal neck of an oxygen bottle, and the economizer oxygen parts) all up for grabs on eBay.
Thanks again chaps I’m still in awe of your knowledge
I have studied the altimeter dial and discovered there are some Reference Numbers; top of dial “Type OM”? bottom of dial Ref No. 3D/245, the dial is only 2 inches in diameter, so it seems too small to be a pilots altimeter. I think the dial is off a navigators/Mechanics/bomb aimers device?

As most of the relics in my collection are mainly from Lancasters the odds are it is from that aircraft, but your right I’ll just put “probably from a Lancaster”

Hello Peter I have listed 170 items, have about 20 more to list. only sold 20 items so far, 35 went unsold I have relisted them. There are some nice items left would make a nice display, or for restoration experts to refurbish or gauge the dimensions of the originals.

Try these links
Or just type in WW2 relics
Thanks Bob fantastic its put me out of my misery about one of the items. It looks like it came from a RAF bomber, I’ll list it as a Lancaster part on eBay.

All my items up for sale on eBay many I haven’t listed on this forum. You can identify and own a piece of aviation history.
Thanks again for your help

This thread seems to have run its course, so I shall end it here. When I got the box of relics from Germany I thought I was getting the remains of a Avro Lancaster of No 101 Squadron, researching the aircraft relics I believed it was from a Lancaster flown by Plt/Off Batten-Smith lost on the Nuremberg raid on 31 March 1944, there probably are relics of his aircraft among my collection, but on inspection of the items, I found more than Lancaster relics, there are also other RAF aircraft and US aircraft parts that are included, which initially I thought was great, however it makes identifying the parts of the Lancaster of 101 Squadron near impossible, so I will not be presenting their association with any relics from one of their aircraft for their 100th anniversary. I would like to thank the many people on the forum for their time in identifying some of the items, I have been impressed by their technical knowledge, keen eye of observation, and the patience study on the subject matter, and it made me realize I’m not cut out to be an aviation archaeologist as I have none of these three attributes. So I will be selling all the relics on eBay, hopefully the forum members will find something of interest among the items on offer.
Thanks again
Dennis
I can’t resist one more question before I go; the Avro Lancaster was an all metal construction where did these wooden pieces come from?

Thanks for the reply Bob I’m going with your description of the exhaust stubs for the Lancaster, they were fitted to the MK III so it gets me a few more relics towards my 101 Squadron collection. Here are some more items they look like pipe/lever connections. I also added a curios piece of relic item 138 its about a quarter inch thick, I think it maybe a piece of Armour plating it appears to have a couple of bullet indentations (maybe just my imagination)

Bob I read your thread and according to the post the exhaust stubs were used on both the Lancaster and the P-51 as your exhaust stub relics differ in shape from mine, was the parts installed on different versions of the Merlin engine, one set manufactured for the Lancaster another for the P-51. The relics I got were supposed to be from a Lancaster Mk. III of No. 101 Squadron RAF, but as I have found P-51 items among my relics it’s kind of muddied the waters a little bit!

Thanks Bob will do, I have the ED908 thread book marked.
Dennis
Some more items probably/likely from an engine (hopefully a Rolls Royce Merlin)

Thanks Smirky I think 112:- Buckle of Fleigerbrille (Right Side ) RAF 1944, “Goggles” probably refer to item 80 pic 1 (post 40) its similar to the one in the picture below, its a connecting buckle for the goggles to the strap? item 81 is painted the same green as 80 and is probably part of the same attachments.
