Yeah credible source
I dont know, dont like the II part…it sounds like a sequal of a movie. lol
Arent 500 Aim-120Cs a bit less of a number for ~100 F-16s?
You have more Indian Planes than the BVR missile we’ll have. SD-10 aside.
There is no need to have equal BVR missiles as the numbers of Indian Planes. 500 AMRAAM seem good enough to equip around the +- 90 F-16’s, considering that each plane is equiped with 2 to 4. Also extra orders could be made if needed.
They are bigger allies than the US….
…. Saudis trust Pakistanis in defence matters with their eyes shut. Pakistanis will give up their lives to protect the holyland & have put their lives on front against Yemanis more than once.

Navy facing shortage of submarine killer torpedoes
Press Trust of India
New Delhi, July 3, 2005
With the indigenous lightweight torpedo programme delayed, Indian Navy is facing serious shortage of submarine killer equipment for its new frigates, destroyers and submarines forcing it to turn to western suppliers for emergency purchases.
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) despite an 18-year effort has failed to make a breakthrough in the production of lightweight torpedoes and the Government after global tendering has issued licence to an Italian firm, Whitehead Alena Sistami Subacqua, for procuring the lightweight torpedoes, according to highly placed Defence Ministry officials.
Under the contract, India will build 900 lightweight torpedoes to replace Navy’s aging ones to arm new Naval warship platforms as well as replenish old stocks.
While, a few dozen torpedoes would be procured off the shelf, the bulk of the production would be undertaken in the Hyderabad facility of the Bharat Dynamics limited, officials said.
“Navy has placed orders for 900 torpedoes and the Indian Built torpedoes would also be offered for sale by the Italian firm to European and other customers,” they said.
No decision yet on Patriot Anti-Missile system for India: US
Press Trust of India
Washington, June 24, 2005
No final decision has been taken on sale of Patriot anti-missile system for India, US officials said on Friday.
US and India are continuing discussions about the anti-missile systems, the officials said.
They were commenting on reports in a Pakistani paper that a decision has been taken by Washington to sell the advanced Patriot-3 anti-missile system to India.
All that is happening is as a preliminary step in such matters and as part of the whole process, without regard to whether India has decided to buy the system or the US has decided to sell it, said officials who did not want to be identified.
There will be a briefing of India on the capabilities on the system, they said.
It helps to have better knowledge as to what the system is capable of, they said adding nothing beyond that has happened.
The Grifro 7 fire control radar detect range is around 50-65kms, not more, just because the PAF is interested or buys something does not give it 100 more kms.
Dear Sameer , thats the problem, we are talking about the Grifo-M, as JonS wrongly stated that Grifo’s range was about +- 35 km. It would be a good idea to read the discussion first. 😉
Yes, the EF is radarless unlike the PA2/3. Damn manufacturer tactics with the MICA!
MICA is only for display as far as i know.
The smallest radar is the P2801 Griffetto or Grifo ASV (Anti-Surface Vessel) for the anti-ship version of the Italian-Brazilian AMX attack aircraft. It can use Track-While-Scan (TWS) against seaborne targets and single-target tracking as well as air-to-ground ranging, ground mapping, terrain avoidance, freeze, beacon, air-to-air search and track, and air combat modes. The P2801 uses a magnetron operating at a low Pulse Repetition Frequency (PRF) to drive a flat-plate, monopulse antenna. A frigate-sized ship showing a radar cross-section of 10,764 sq ft (1,000 sq m) is claimed to be detectable at ranges greater than 55 nm (63 mi; 102 km). FIAR claims that in the air-to-air mode aircraft can be detected up to 22.4 mi (36 km).
The P2803 Grifo-X is a larger system designed for light attack aircraft that shares the same system connectors with the Grifo ASV. The Grifo-X is fully coherent, pulse-Doppler radar with the same multi-modal flexibility as the Grifo ASV, but possessing better look-up range and offering a limited look- down capability as well.
The P2800 Grifo-M is larger than the Grifo-X and uses a more elaborate multi-processor fire control system. It is designed to fit in the radar bay of a Mirage III or Mirage V interceptor-strike aircraft as an upgrade option. It is still more powerful than the Grifo-X with greater look-down range and discrimination through the use of Fast-Fourier-Transform (FFT) Doppler-filtering techniques. There are two versions –the Grifo-M for Mirage-series aircraft, using a circular flat-plate array, and the P2804 Grifo-F, a reconfigured system with an elliptical scanner that fits in the antenna bay of a Northrop F-5E aircraft. Singapore has selected the P2804 for retrofit into its F-5 fleet, as has Brazil.
It doesnt say that the Grifo M has a range of +-35 km against fighter sized AC, as jonS suggested.
Arshad, FYI, FBI is not directing traffic constable at Karachi road lights 😀 . What I am talking about is ‘Big hunt’ which matters.. at least in sense with security of US and India atleast.. So dont read Pak local newspaper or visit Pakdef..
ah i c FBI and Pakistani Police running the big hunt for protection of India 😀 , that makes sense
Pakistan’s anti terrorist units are cooperating with the US, and conducting joint raids. Thats not the same as “FBI running Pak police etc” comment as Indian1973 stated. Please remain in the realistic world. I can see that most of you have a problem of not backing things up, shouting things without knowing what you are saying, but keep in mind that this is not Bharat Bakshak but AFM.
Also pls stay ontopic, no need to drag AGAIN pakistan into it, by making stupid statements like claiming that US controls pak mil/police/nukes etc.
Pak rev, already posted but never mind 😉

KARACHI, Pakistan (AP) – U.S. and Pakistani submarines and destroyers met in the Arabian Sea Tuesday for a week of military exercises, a spokesman for the Pakistan Navy said. More than 700 sailors and officers from the two countries are taking part in the effort to further improve military-to-military relations and benefit from each other’s experience, Lt. Commander Salman Ali said. He gave no other details. The navies will be focusing on “undersea” and “explosive” warfare and deep water exercises, Capt. Hank Miranda, commander of the U.S. Destroyer Squadron 50, told reporters Monday in southern port city of Karachi. These (exercises) are not directly related to checking the movement of terrorists. The purpose is to practice skills such as communications and try to keep the sea trouble-free for trade and commercial purposes and to strengthen ties as allies,” he said. Pakistan is a key ally of Washington in its war on terror, and the exercises, called Inspired Siren, came two months after Pakistani and U.S. troops participated in a joint counterterrorism exercise in northwestern Pakistan. It is the first time that in seven years that U.S. Navy ships have come to Pakistan’s main port on its southern coast. Two Pakistani destroyers, PNS Tariq and PNS Shahjahan, as well as submarines and helicopters will join the exercise.

well Arshad I dont need to. ask the liaison committee folks at dalbandin, the guys with the PALs. you have been allowed like all loyal pets to retain some “honour & dignity” with possession of the devices but the PALs are firmly in Unkils hands 😀
and I see you didnt deny the second part – i.e FBI is effectively running the pakistan police now 😀
India worry ? let India sit with feet on table and let unkil deal with his self-created s*** :diablo:
Pets ?, FBI running pakistani police ? 😮 , i wont even go into that discussion with you and cinciboy :D, as usual shouting something without any knowladge of it.
indian proj is to make a large 100km range missile with warhead and mate with a indo-israeli radar and C3I system “swordfish” (maybe has inputs from citron tree tech).
first test of the missile is slated end of CY05 so any product is 10 yrs off.I suppose limited nos of pac-3 could provide some defence to cities but dont think thats necessary at this stage because US is firmly in control of Paks nuclear and missile assets for their own reasons. and US is unlikely to leave pakistan anytime soon – I keep reading press reports that immigration system , police , DEA have all been networked to FBI and CIA systems offshore to permit very intrusive control of the pak “system”.
😀 keep your wet dreams to yourself, dont make up “Stories”.

F-16 Deal for Pakistan Could Feature Advanced Weapons
06/19/2005 05:18:56 PM
Pakistan is in line to receive one of the most modern versions of the F-16s, after years of being subject to an arms-sales ban that kept Washington from delivering fighters that Islamabad had bought.
U.S. officials are cautious in discussing the exact arms package they plan to deliver to Pakistan, although the deal could be for about 55 new aircraft. The sale is largely a reward for Islamabad’s support of U.S. military operations in the region.
One of the issues with which the U.S. is grappling involves Pakistan’s desire to both upgrade 32 F-16s in its fleet and buy F-16 Block 50/52s with a sophisticated weapons package. But new aircraft will not be available until around 2008 or 2009, so a gap-filler package of used F-16s is being considered, says USAF Lt. Gen. Jeffrey B. Kohler, director of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency.
The heart of the deal will be the new aircraft. At least one option is what Lockheed Martin calls the Advanced Block 50 configuration. This includes the APG-68(V)9 radar with a synthetic aperture mode, as well as a conformal fuel-tank capability. The aircraft will be capable of using an internal ALQ-211 electronic countermeasures jammer and an ECM pod, either the ALQ-131 or -134. Weapons carriage capabilities will include the AIM-120 Amraam and AIM-9 variants, including the AIM-9X.
Whether–and when–the latest variant of the AIM-9 will be made available to Pakistan is not clear. The aircraft also will be compatible with air-to-surface weapons such as the GBU-24, AGM-84 Harpoon and Joint Stand-Off Weapon. Again, the export release of individual weapons will be determined at a later date.
Any agreement for used F-16s between a third party and Pakistan likely would receive U.S. support. Such an arrangement has been discussed in the case of other potential buyers, with Belgium among those offering up some of its fleet. The Pentagon, in those cases, has said it would aid the arrangement through the provision of spares and potential upgrade kits.
The U.S. is in talks with Islamabad to fully define its fighter requirements, before going through the congressional notification process required for any deal. Until the plan is fully laid out, an expected mid-life upgrade of older F-16s also will not move forward.

Pakistan says 53 died in March navy ship fire
http://www.chinaview.cn 2005-06-18 13:57:18
ISLAMABAD, June 18 (Xinhuanet) — Pakistani minister of state for defense Friday informed the Senate that 53 persons lost their lives and 59 suffered critical injuries when a Pakistan Navy’s ship caught fire in March at Karachi harbor.
The ship, PNS Moawin, caught fire on March 10 while undergoing maintenance by civilian labor. Among the 53 dead, nine were officers, 34 were sailors and 10 civilians, according to the minister, Zahid Hamid.
Another 59 persons were injured, including three officers, 23 sailors and 33 civilians. Seven of the injured were still under treatment, local newspaper Dawn reported Saturday.
Hamid added that the vessel did not suffer any major damage andwas in operation after the incident.
He said the government had earmarked 5.05 million rupees (about85,000 US dollars) for compensation for civilian casualties while the naval officers and sailors would be compensated through a fundestablished by the Pakistan Navy.
It was the first time that the government revealed the actual number of casualties in the incident three months ago.
The minister’s statement came in response to an adjournment motion moved by the People’s Party Parliamentarians Enver Baig.
Senator Baig had asked the Defense Ministry to inform the houseif the incident was an act of terrorism or result of a human errorand if the responsibility had been fixed in the case.
He said media reports put the number of casualties much less than the magnitude of the tragedy and the military did not give details about casualties.
The senator said the defense forces should know that they were answerable to the people of Pakistan and should inform the house if any compensation was paid for the dead and to the injured.
