KARACHI (Reuters) – The Pakistani and the U.S. navies will hold joint exercises from Tuesday in the Arabian Sea aimed at ensuring waters near some of the world’s most important shipping lanes remain trouble-free, officials said on Monday.
The exercise, code-named “Inspired Siren,” will last until June 28 and will involve two U.S. and two Pakistani frigates, said Captain Hank Miranda, commander of the U.S. navy’s Destroyer Squadron 50.
“The purpose is to practice skills, such as communications, and try to keep the seas out here free for trade and commercial purposes, and strengthen ties as allies,” Miranda told reporters on board the USS Kauffman, one of two U.S. ships taking part.
The Arabian Sea is near the Gulf of Oman and its Middle Eastern shipping lanes, through which much of the world’s oil passes.
The USS Hawes is the other U.S. ship taking part in the exercise, which will also involve Pakistan’s PNS Tariq and PNS Shahjahan.
Miranda said the exercise was not directly related to the U.S.-led war on terrorism, of which Pakistan is an important ally, but on maritime security in general.
The exercise would concentrate on undersea warfare and joint maritime security operations, he said. The visit by the U.S. ships to the Pakistani port of Karachi was the first by a U.S. navy vessel in seven years, he said.

What is Rose 3 upgrade? The link you gave doesnt mention the term ‘Rose 3’.
Also, from the site
AFAIK, Pakistan has Mirage III and V and not Mirage 2000’s and V’s are different from 2000’s right.
So are the pics posted in this thread that of Pakistani Mirages or french Mirage 2000 which is capable of firing AASM and MICA? Where did PAF come in picture?
No the link doesnt mention it, but we asked the Pac kamra technician over there and he confirmed that it was a Rose 3 not Rose 2 upgrade, he gave us a folder from behind (of pac). This cockpit picture is a scan from that. We were not allowed to directly make a pic of the cockpit on the standing AC.
As i said about the MICA, he said that the mica was only for display. The AASM was part of the upgrade.
they were borrowed by sangem to show off AASM and Mica, as part of Rose 3 upgrade so whats the fuss about?
They said the AASM is part of the upgrade (the technician), about the mica they said its only for display and laughed 😉 .
Cininboy take your bs somewhere else.
😮 Nicely done , to bad i missed the show. What kind of camera did you use.
Yep that cockpit layout/systems sure look nice. This is the Rose 3 upgrade.
Sagem AASM guided missile
The AASM (air-to-ground modular weapon) is a weapon carried by fighter aircraft that can be effortlessly fired (“fire and forget”) from stand-off distance (15km for low-altitude firing; 50km for high-altitude firing). It is currently developed for Mirage 2000 and Rafale air-to-ground combat aircraft. Rafales are capable of carrying up to six of these missiles. Each missile can be aimed independently at a particular target, which it will hit with a 10m accuracy with the inertial/GPS all-weather version and only a few meter accuracy with the night/day infrared terminal
guidance version.

JF-17 Production Project to Start in Pakistan
Zafar Malik, Islamabad: On April 5th, President of Pakistan General Pervez Musharraf launched the Production of JF 17 Thunder Multi Role Jet aircraft. He laid the foundation stone of the factory. Air Marshal Aurangzeb told at the occasion that 50 percent of the airframe and all the avionics would be manufactured in Pakistan. The serial production will start in 2008. Vice President Aviation Industries of China, Geng Ruguang, also spoke at the occasion.
Group Captain Hafeez-ur-Rehman of the Kamra Avionics and Radar Factory (KRAF) said that KARF was entrusted to undertake JF-17 avionics program. At present, the avionics facilities to achieve the objectives of JF-17 program are being established at KARF. JF-17 Avionics architecture is configured around multi bus system (MIL-STD-1553B) in a distributed environment. The heart of the system is a 32-bit Weapon and Mission management Computer (WMMC) which performs mission computations, flight management, reconfiguration / redundancy management and in-flight system self-test.
It is being equipped with advanced multi-mode, multi-track, fully coherent pulse Doppler radar for air to air, air to surface attack capabilities. Accurate navigation and guidance is realized through hybrid technology using Ring Laser Gyros (RLG) based Inertial Navigation System (INS) and Global Positioning System (GPS). Radio communication system is secured with anti-jamming and data link capabilities for operation in advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) environment. EW suite comprises Self Production Jammer (SPJ), Missile Approach Warning System (MAWS), Radar Warning Receiver (RWR), Chaff & Flare Dispenser (CFD). Laser Designator and Targeting Pod (LDTP) is for target illumination and detection with day/ night capabilities.
Glass cockpit uses Smart Multifunction Color Display (SMFCD) and Smart Heads-Up Display (SHUD) with built in symbol generation capability to optimize integrated architecture. Identification of Friend and foe (IFF) implements Secure mode for EW environment. Target verification is with onboard IFF interrogator for BVR missile firing.
It is a nice axample of how the global strategy works. For an approval for sale of F-16 US get their hands on any person that are of discomfort to their foreign policy. Pakistani govt have sold their Khan hero very cheaply, wonder what this will do with the masses.
You perhaps didnt read the article correctly, they get only “second hand ” information, no interviews directly with AQ. And its not about selling out “an hero”, but giving information to allies about the Illegal group it was running. For pakistan is was not related to the F-16’s, they gave also information before this deal.
Perhaps the french didnt ask the permission in english
(one thing hatefull in france is that no one seems to speek english  )
…Russians penetrate Finland
oh you mean planes 😮
Americans/French egoes are known. If the route the russians take is near the finish boarder, this things happen. Dont know how “correct” these guys fly, but a pilots often stray in “restricted airspace”.
Israeli missile fails again in test-firing
From Rahul Bedi
DH News Service New Delhi:
As both the rounds of validation firing were not satisfactory, Rafael may be answerable to the penalty clause for delayed delivery of the missile systems.
The Israeli armament maker Rafael’s medium range conventional stand-off AGM–142 Raptor Have Nap/Popeye missile, specially configured for the Indian Air Force (IAF), proved unsuccessful in its second validation test-firing in Rajasthan recently.
The first validation firing of the missile specially code named ‘Crystal Maze’ by the IAF took place last December.
According to the deal signed with Rafael in December 2001 for 30 AGM-142 missiles for around Rs 2.70 bn ($ 62.7 million), two validation test-firings were mandatory by mid-2005. Thereafter, 15 missiles were to be delivered to the IAF by June with the balance to be handed over by the year-end.
Fired from a Mirage 2000H fighter, the 1,360 kg missile with a 328 kg warhead and a range of around 100 km missed its target in late April in Jaisalmer, exploding between 50-60 meters away, senior official sources said.
In the December 2004 test-firing at the same location, the missile struck the 5000 PSI reinforced concrete target accurately, piercing it to a depth of two meters, but did not explode.
Military officers present at the firing range said this was due reportedly to a problem with the missile fuse, a problem Rafael managed to rectify in the second round. Ministry of defence (MoD) sources indicated that another round of firing by Rafael would take place by the year-end.
Since both rounds of validation firing had not proven satisfactory, the penalty clause for delayed delivery of the missile systems was likely to come into effect, MoD sources indicated.
The 48.26 m long AGM-42/Crystal Maze missile powered by a solid propellant rocket motor has an inertial guidance system equipped with a data link, television and imaging infrared homing device. With a diameter of 5.3 m and a wingspan of 19.8 m, the missile will arm IAF’s Mirage 2000 H and Mirage 2000-5 fighters the IAF is planning to acquire from Qatar.
Competing with Rafael for the AGM contract was France’s MBDA and South Africa’s Denel with its Kentron multi-purpose, surgical strike weapon. The IAF has also sent out a request for information for advanced air-to-surface missiles with a 200 km range.

Two factors have been cited as major reasons why the 3rd Wing took a drubbing. None of the participating American aircraft had the latest long-range AESA radars, although some of the F-15Cs of the Wing had this equipment. A decision had been made beforehand not to send the AESA equipped planes to India due to the additional maintenance package required to support them. A total of six F-15Cs were sent to India, each equipped with a fighter data link, short-range AIM-9X heat-seeking air-to-air missiles, and the U.S.’s helmet-mounted cueing system.
Secondly, at India’s request, the U.S. agreed to mock combat at 3-to-1 odds and without the full range of capabilities of simulated long-range radar-guided AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles. U.S. fighters could not use the active on-board radar capability of the AMRAAM, and the missile was limited to around 32 kilometers range and required the use of the F-15C’s onboard radar to target Indian aircraft. In standard use, AMRAAM has a range of over 100 kilometers and is a fire-and-forget missile that doesn’t require additional guidance from the F-15. Practiced tactics by the F-15 crews mix two AESA-equipped F-15Cs with two stock aircraft. The AESA aircraft take long-range missile shots to thin out and disrupt the formation of a numerically superior force before the two sides close up for closer fighting.
The F-15s flew in groups of 4 against packages of 12 Indian Air Force aircraft consisting of a mix of Mirage 2000, Su-30, Mig-21, and Mig-27 aircraft. The Mirage and Su-30 aircraft were used in the air-to-air role, while the Mig-27 was used as the strike aircraft with the Mig-21 providing escort to the Mig-27s. The Indians also had a simulated AWACS platform and the use of simulated active radar missiles such as the AA-12 and the French Mica, unlike the F-15Cs. This gave the Indian Air Force a fire-and-forget air-to-air missile capability that the U.S. fighters didn’t have, a heavily unrealistic assumption in actual hostilities.
what would the block 70 have that was meant to be offered to india in terms of toys?
Nothing now, its just a “word” for now. It would be “customized” for the Indian Air Force’s reuiqrements.

Pakistan and China agreed on F22P transfer
On April 4 2005, after more than four years of negotiations, China and Pakistan finalized the agreement of transferring F22P FFG production technology to the latter.
F22P will be armed with Z9C. Because of this, representatives from CATIC attended the signing ceremony. This is the first time for Pakistan to obtain Z9 serial anti-submarine helicopters. F22P will also be outfitted with HHQ7 ship-to-air missile (SAM), the first time for Pakistan to get such SAM system, too. The average price of one F22P excluding the weapon and electronic systems is approximately US$120 millions. It is not yet known so far what type of SSM F22P will be fitted with. Kanwa speculates that China is not likely to export YJ8-3 SSM to Pakistan. Pakistan has already possessed YJ8-2 SSM. Shortly before a source from Karachi said that F22P would still be fitted with YJ8-2.
This will be the most advanced FFG that China has so far exported to other countries. F22P originates from 053H3 FFG. Some modifications have been made on the export version FFG,including a stealthy design of the bridge, avoiding acute angles in the structure of the bridge, and the installation of Russian 630 CIWS to replace the 37mm gun fitted on 05H3. Karachi Shipyard will be contracted to build F22P. However, sources from the Chinese shipbuilding industry say that all the core parts will be from Shanghai Hudong Shipyard, and the latter will also provide technical guidance. F22P is the largest surface ship that Pakistan has ever built.
One aspect of this theory is the so called controlled explosion. I saw one american (trailer living type) telling; that his evidence was just the video in which the wtc tower fell down. Telling that the plane couldnt let the building come down “so nicely”, thats why it had to be a conspiracy theory. With a controlled explosion. Perhaps he could become an engineer. Perhaps Patran/Nastran/other simulations are not needed, we can hire these people to tell us more about constructions etc. 😀
